9. i live in colorado...my son is the same age taking world history

they are at a point of history (after WWI)and talking about Hitler's rise.
The teacher is drawing parallels to current times and the rise of Hitler.
this is a teacher's job....to teach students how to think critically

he came home yesterday amazed at the similarities....he said this is just like when Hitler was coming to power...pledging your allegiance to the man instead of the country.

for one thing, the kid is in high school not grade school.

and the idea of people turning other people in to authorities for what they say

goes against my core beliefs. hitler's crimes didn't happen over night.

Within a few months of him taking office the Reichstag passed the Enabling Act making him legal dictator and the first concentration camp, Dachau was opened within a few months of his taking office also.

Of course things got "worsier" from there.
