1. A quote from the letter:
"Democrats are mentally and morally weak, but unfortunately, they vote. Help us stem the tide of their ignorance and moral decay in our great nation."

Wow.

2. Mehlman is slick as snot on a doorknob and
twice as nasty, but this seems a little clumsy. The last line, " Join the Righteous today!" seems a little out there for him, as does the Christian crusade tone of that letter. Mehlman knows enough to want to garner kneejerk Israel supporters and secular Repugs, and this little stinker of a letter seems out of character.

However, they're all getting just desperate enough to use crap like this, so who knows?

7. The first part of the letter makes me think so, but then . . .

(I)t is about their attempts to discredit our great President in his visionary work to make our country
the true Christian mecca it should be, and a shameful play to embarrass he who is one of the greatest men to ever walk the face of this Earth.

(emphasis added.)

That's really over the top and is likely to turn off as many people as it will entice. Although Mehlman is crude occupational liar who, like an obnoxious salesman, throws out every reason he thinks will work hoping one appeal to somebody and another to somebody else, he's usually not this outrageous. This is bad even for him.

16. Would one of these crusader types actually combine Christian and Mecca?
That rings false to me - let alone all the rest of it...

9. I have to believe it's real. Here's what repubs are doing locally..
a group here in Western Washington are sending out postcards with the mugshots and details of hardcore sex offenders. They are sent as sort of a fake warning that the Level three sex offender is moving into their neighborhood. On the flips side is a photo and info about their Democratic state rep, and accusations that they are weak on keeping your children safe... It's one of THE most disgusting examples of hatred and fear-mongering since the Willie Horton days. It's been denounced by everyone, and because they're funneling the money through a private group, the Repubs can claim they know nothing about it.

The bastards, like Mehlman, have no compunction.. no hesitation in publicly calling us worthless. They are using Hitlerian tactics to demonize and belittle liberals. It's not a coincidence. They are using the playbooks of the most ruthless regimes in history. I am not overstating this. HOw many times, after 9/11, did we find that officials of the Bush admin and the RNC were using talking points straight from the Third Reich?

11. This surley has to be a hoax:
He would not really say this, would he?????!!!

"Democrat (sic) leaders'... attempts to discredit our great President in his visionary work to make our country the true Christian mecca it should be, and a shameful play to embarrass he who is one of the greatest men to ever walk the face of this Earth. They are truly evil, hating America, and all that our great Christian people believe in, and loving and supporting the Terrorists in their evil plans to wipe the rest of us God-Loving Christians off the face of this Earth."

13. it does sound over the top.
And probably a hoax. But then again, have you read some of what these GOP congressfolks write to their base in order to keep them all frothy at the mouth and unified? Absurdity has become reality a little too often in this era. Still does read like parody.
