So... Will The American People Fall For This Bullshit (Iran) Again ???
And which will it be, the threat of war with Iran, or actual war with Iran?

Will this shore up the Republican majorities in both the Senate and the House? Or will this sink them thoroughly?

And, since we are the ONLY country to ever use a nuclear weapon in an act of war, what does the rest of the world, our allies included, do if we use them again?

And are the Bushies traitorously bat-shit crazy, or what?

I'm REALLY worried today.

6. Good Point !!!
If they BELIEVE they can get the American people back on their side by doing this, it almost guarantees that they will do it.

We need to figure a way to mobilize public opinion (other than standard poll results) to show them that this will be the end of them if they do this, if not the end of all of us.

12. God help us, I hope not!
If this is true, we are in deep-shit trouble. I don't trust the repukes to rein the idiot son in, and the dems have no power to do it, and the military has been purged of anyone not part of the war-mongers club so they're up for it with bells on. Some one has to stand up and say enough to these psychopathic criminals.

Can we fit the sixty-some percent of us who disapprove of this dip-shit into DC? That may be the only way to stop it - a massive, spontaneous uprising of protest from the MAJORITY of Americans.

You're not the only one who's worried, my friend. There have been these rumblings about Iran from Sy Hersch and Scott Ritter for about a year now. I had hoped the plummeting poll numbers, over-stretched military, spiralling deficit, and the quagmire known as Viet Nam - oops, I mean Iraq - had caused them to re-think this rather STUPID idea. But no, I forgot, I'm in a reality-based universe, and THEY'RE NOT! Damn them! AARRRGGHHHH!!!

I don't know how much more I can take.

bu$h regime has set a course for a nuclear attack on Iran. I don't think public opinion would have stopped Iraq either. They just sucked many people in to give the illusion of public support.
This nation is on a collision course with total disaster at the hands of a puppet president.

and present all his bullshit "evidence" to us. I don't think Americans will EVER take him at his word again. I also don't think he'll accomplish anything other than saber rattling with regard to Iran. Congress and the American people know he is and has been on a slippery slope for a very long time. Even the Republicans won't give him a blank check on Iran.

IMO, the only hope our war-monger in chief has of seeing the "rockets red glare" over Iran is if he invents a terrorist attack by Iran on our soil. Even that isn't going to play well with believers because he said we were "fightin' em' over there so that we didn't have to fight em' over here."

For the first time I am starting to believe bush is toast. I see nothing but a lose lose situation in every direction.

18. It doesn't matter.
He will do as he has done to date; he will do as he pleases then assert his "rights" as a "war time president" to do as he pleases.

The repub party will fall in lock-step behind whatever he does as right for the safety of the u.s. and amerika, the media will promote the repub party talking points and the dems will be "nice guys and gals" and fall in line with the "safe from terrorism" and "spreading democracy" themes so as not to look "weak" to their constituants and those in the "middle." War profiteers will continue to profit. Young and old men and women will die. There will be much flag waving (american flags only, please) and "we the people" will once again be left to wonder what happened to "the land of the free and the home of the brave." There will be protests in the streets and many people will be arrested as "enemies of the state." There will be more "mentally ill" accused of threatening the "president's life" and warehoused in some "safe" place so as to keep "us" safe from "them."

I often wonder these days, is this how the german people felt when they finally realized what the nazis were doing?

American people opposed the Iraq war before the invasion (Feb. '03). Nor will they fall for this. Don't you understand? It doesn't matter what we think, because our leaders are not beholden to us; they are beholden to Diebold and ES&S, the two related Bushite election theft corporations who 'counted' 80% of the votes in 2004, using "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY programming code with virtually no audit/recount controls--a corrupt election system brought to you by the two biggest crooks in Congress, Tom Delay and Bob Ney (with the $4 billion "Hack America's Vote Act" boondoggle).

I realize his approval ratings are in the toilet but BushCo could just go ahead and stage a "pre-emptive" (aerial or even ground) attack and Rove and all the spin doctors would paint it as the patriotic thing to do. Next thing you know his numbers are back up in the 50's again.

27. Let's express some concern, but be sure to press the case.
This crisis is an entirely logical outcome of the policy and outrageous behavior of Bush and the neoconservatives. Of course Iran is pursing a nuclear weapons program. She would be stupid not to pursue a nuclear weapons program. If the neocons have their a nation in their sites, all they will do is say that nation is a threat, that it has WMDs or is pursuing the construction of nuclear weapons, whether it is true or not. Iran doesn't want to wait to be invaded and have the CIA made the fall for bad intelligence while some US administrator in Tehran unilaterally rewrites the laws on foreign investment. If the neocons are going to claim a nation has nukes as a pretext to invade, that nation is well advised to make sure the neocons are right.

No one should welcome Iran to the nuclear club. It makes the world a more dangerous place. But we know why they are doing it. It isn't the Iranians who have made the world dangerous.

Another reason that this is a logical outcome of the behavior of Bush and the neoconservatives is that, with the US military tied down next door occupying Iraq, there really is no US military force that can strike Iran were that necessary. A nuclear strike becomes an alternative to invasion and occupation. Bush's occupation of Iraq is going badly. Whether Mr. Bush has the capacity to understand it or not, somebody in the White House or the State Department or the Pentagon undoubtedly realizes that an occupation of Iran would be even more difficult. Iran is about three times larger than Iraq geographically and has about two and a half times as many people. While Iran's Islamic Republic is not a true democracy, it resembles one far more than Saddam's Iraq did; there will be even less reason to suppose US forces will be greeted as liberators by the Iranians than there was to suppose Iraqis would. The population of Iran are more homogeneous than that of Iraq; unlike Iraq, resistance to occupation will be unified.

Bush has really made a mess of the Pax Americana. Bush's American imperialism has all the bad effects that an imperial system imposes both on its colonies and its own masses at home, but none of the benefits of sustained political stability or security.

As long as Iran is about five years away from developing a nuclear weapon, there is time to deal with the threat. I would prefer that, like Iraq, Mr. Bush leave this to his successor. Unfortunately, unlike Iraq, Iran may be a real threat that requires a real solution. Yet five years into Mr. Bush's reign of terror and error, we have no reason to have any confidence in him to solve any urgent problem.

Right now, Iran is less of an urgent problem than Bush is. It is no more a danger to international peace or US national security than Bush is. If Iran is such an urgent problem that it needs to be addressed sooner rather than later, or even if Iran is a less urgent problem but for which a constructive policy needs to be developed sooner rather than later, than the US needs competent leadership sooner rather than later. We need to replace this clumsy junta with a competent administration, sooner rather than later.

Voters sense that the calculations on Iraq were almost completely wrong. They trusted Dubya to kill the terra-ists and each new step he has taken results in the terra-ists multiplying.

No WsMD, no democracy in Iraq, poppies growing and the Taliban regathering in Afghanistan, Hamas in power in Palestine, and the Kurds looking to get the hell out and form a sovereign nation in the north.

People just aren't buying Junior's foreign policy anymore. And for his part, the president won't seek counsel outside his own suffocating little circle of egomaniacs.

Bush may be talking tough on Iran because he doesn't know what else to do, and it's been the only thing that's worked for him in the past. And there's nobody in the White House to sit the fool down and say, "Dude, your presidency is a failure; without significant reform and re-direction, your legacy is right up there with Nixon and Harding."
