And WHERE are the declassified documents from the CIA
that the information re: Plame? IF Plame's status as an active covert operative was declassified, there's a procedure that also includes the department/agency involved to present why or why not the information should be declassified. It's not a simple process, and involves several steps before it can be signed by POTUS to be declassified.

There HAS to be documentation to PROVE this information was declassified and WHEN!

B. Our nation’s democratic principles also require that the American people be informed of the activities of their Government; therefore, information may not be classified unless its disclosure reasonably could be expected to cause damage to the national security. If there is significant doubt about the need to classify information, the information shall not be classified. If the classifying authority has a significant doubt about the appropriate level of classification, he or she will classify the information at the lower level. In addition, classified information shall not be declassified automatically as a result of any unauthorized disclosure of identical or similar information.

C. The authority to classify original information at the Secret or Confidential level may be exercised only by the Secretary of Commerce and officials to whom Original Classification Authority (OCA) has been delegated. No departmental official is authorized to classify original information at the Top Secret level. Officials authorized to classify information at the Secret level are also authorized to classify information at the Confidential level.

1. K&R I am interested in seeing a paper trail. Keep bugging the media til
they ask for the documents, since they are declassified, should be no problem, right?

Also what were the costs of the Plame leak investigation? People were complaining about the time and therefore the money that Fitzgerald's office was spending. Which would have been unnecessary, right? If bush had told at least the special prosecutors office and the CIA who requested a special prosecutor that bush done it. Was it two or three years ago that Fitzgerald's investigation began, AT THE REQUEST OF THE CIA who were a bit miffed that one of their operatives had been outed not to mention her deep undercover organization Brewster Jennings which cost the taxpayers how many millions and which took 13 years to build its deep undercover organization.

2. Great Thinking; (Also Great Beatles)
This is a fabulous point--now that they have invented this routine as their cover, it should be pursued to get the details, so they cannot just hide behind it, "Wolf Blitzer-like," as if "everybody" now knows that they have "proved" the claim. The "documents" should be requested, and information on who supposedly knew about it and when. Of course, there was no such thing, and as we learned from Nixon, the President can't just "declassify" anything any old time with no procedure. This was an ad hoc persecution of a critic of Bush and Cheney's lies, it threatened the lives of many undercover agents at Plame's operation, there were no declassified documents, and this can be pursued this way. Trap them in the lie that they have chosen.

5. Thanks, but after looking things over from your links
where is the document(s)that declassify Plame as an active CIA operative?

I looked through the Niger parts, and found nothing that states Valerie Plame's identity is no longer considered Top Secret/Classified information...

Am wondering where the documents are that declassified Plame's identity proving that she no longer an active CIA secret entity.

Isn't what this is all about re: Fitzgerald/Libby linking Bush and Cheney to outing her as an agent? Just because Bush and/or Cheney state they can declassify anything they want when they want, there still has to be paperwork, and departmental sequence of steps taken.

6. I did a find using "Valerie Wilson" which is the name she used...
and checked all the documents that can be found at those archives but I wasn't able to find it. According to leveymg (another poster here) the part discussing Plame can be found in an INR (the State Departments' Bureau of Intelligence and Research) footnote, an annex to that NIE. Either that section has been "redacted" or we aren't looking at the right documents.

See his topic here:

I even went back just a little while ago and used both "Wilson" and "Plame" but nothing came up. There are a bunch of documents at those archives about the actual Niger affair, so that's where I'm looking next. So much has been blacked out, nothing is cohesive enough to really read through.

There is a resolution in the House demanding they provide all this info to Congress, so maybe we'll get some proof if that effort succeeds. Otherwise, those who want to know and actually see the evidence will just have to remain "out of the loop", until Fitz brings more indictments and maybe is able to prosecute some of the traitors.

Hope you're right about how things will go re: info to Congress, and Fitz possibly bringing more indictments, etc.

Seems like only yesterday that we actually lived in a democracy, and the expected follow-through actually happened... :::sigh:::
