I was told to withdraw from the Senate race today!
I went to my County DEC meeting this morning, and the Chair told me that the Florida Democratic Party (Chair?) said to get my name off the Division of Elections website as a candidate. I filed to run in the primary against Bill Nelson (DINO-FL)

I said, "They'll remove it next month when I don't qualify".

She said, "But, you're not running"!

I replied, "I was going to, but after careful analysis and advice, it would just be a protest candidacy".

She said, "Well, are you going to remove it"?

I said "No, it'll come off next month automatically".

Do you think Nelson looked at my $50 war chest and got scared.

She then walked away in a huff, and I didn't get a chance to tell her that, progressives are so pissied off at Nelson right now, that since I filed I've had offers of thousands of dollars in contributions, and tons of calls from people all over Florida wanting to volunteer.

1. cool, run
Use every media spot to tell the truth,
be ruthless with the truth and you'll
gain a million heralds, 72 virgins in democratic heaven,
and a lotta good vibes from this quarter.

18. clearly its ridiculous
The whole concept of a democratic heaven, and i don't
mean to question that all martyrs get 72 virgins after their
deaths, but rather for what exactly the great blow job is won,
and exactly how many sexual bits you are endowed with in heaven.

Ok, so realistically, given a normal man's stamina, he'd likely
not even be able to satisfy 4 virgins, let alone 72... so clearly
in the afterlife, democrats who fought the good fight, are endowed
with many genetalia, so they can make love with a thousand lovers.

:-)

I guess a democratic hell would be a place where everyone got a
vote on whether you get to heaven, and if you lose the vote,
you stay around forever to vote on the next arrival.

3. Who are these individuals dismantling our primaries and our Democracy?
Edited on Sat Apr-08-06 04:45 PM by shance
Im sorry that some of your fellow Dems are not being supportive of your run DF. It's pretty inexcusable and they're idiots to be limiting their own choices of who they want to run in the general. They are in one sense voting against their own interest. They should be cheering you and anyone else who wants to run because that is what the PRIMARY is for. There is no harm no foul to have as many candidates running in the primary who want to run, because that is what the primary is intended for.

Some people calling themselves Democrats, seems more like Dumbocrats, are literally stacking the deck against themselves and us because they are eliminating our choices of candidates in the primary. THAT IS WHAT A PRIMARY IS FOR. TO HAVE CHOICES ON WHO WE WANT TO RUN IN THE GENERAL!! What is so difficult for some people to understand about this simple point?

Irregardless of political party - theres a reason for primaries and that is to provide us the American citizen with CHOICES. The primary is the true core of our choice in deciding who we want to run against the Republican candidate. We should have as many people running as possible. The more the merrier.

I'll raise the $10,000 filing fee, and they'll have to see my name on the primary ballot until September.

11. Raise it, and file.
They have no right to tell you not to run. The whole point of a democracy is that you can run. Do it. Help preserve democracy.

And good luck to you.

12. I tell people to donate their hard earned cash.
Where it could make a difference. I usually suggest 2 congessional candidates who will have a good shot at winning if they raise the money.

John Russell in Florida's 5th District

20. Run, Dr. Phool, Run!
As an ex-Floridian, I think you should run. It might at least force Nelson to address Progressive issues which certainly wouldn't hurt!

Besides, with Katherine Harris in the general, the democrats have nothing to fear. You could get, even sans name recognition, 55% against Harris without spending a cent!

21. Bill Nelson is truly an enigma to me
The guy has a very impressive record in Florida politics. He has a background as an astronaut which is also very appealing. Yet he does nothing except worry about his next election and try to look like a Republican. Thank god he's running against Harris, or he'd be in real trouble. Maybe if he'd actually use his experience and his ability to do something for his constituents, they wouldn't regard him as the lesser of two evils. Florida (as well all know) is not a dark red state either. It's definately a purple state.
