Blacked Out: Government Secrecy in the Information Age

Alasdair Roberts discusses his book, "Blacked Out," at Powell's City of Books in Portland, Oregon. During his speech, Professor Roberts comments on the recent increase in the enactment of freedom of information laws by governments around the world. He also talks about a number of issues that surround government secrecy that he believes will need to be addressed in the future, including the problem of "government pushback" (an effort reverse the trend in government transparency). He argues that this is happening in the United States today.

"freedom of information" laws. Too bad ours is being subverted. :(

4. IFTA, World Bank, WTO do not have any laws saying that they have to

be transparent.

We have no way of seeing what they're doing. National laws do not apply. :(
