So said a female * supporter on Washington Journal just now to justify a nuclear first strike on Iran. "Even if it causes us problems... we're going to get those anyway."

The ironic thing is that at the same moment, a caller to Tehran Journal was saying the exact same thing.

3. If Iran is waving a gun at us,

it's because the Reagan administration sold 'em the gun. Besides, when did the US become the international judge and jury of who's trustworthy enough to possess nuclear weapons? Truth be told, the US has a reputation as an international bully, and I wouldn't be surprised if, one day, the international community gets around to looking into whether US leadership is trustworthy enough to be in control of a nuclear arsenal.

4. Why does this Administration and its supporters always emphasize....

... the negative news. Why don't we hear about all the countries not developing nuclear weapons? Why don't they give us a more balanced view of the world? I'd like to see a nice feel-good press conference about Yemen's plans to not develop any WMD for a change.

Rogue countries like Iran know that they can get the U.S. Government to report on their activities in order to give a biased view of the security situation of the Middle East - to make it appear much worse than it really is. For once I would like to see the Administration give an objective view of that part of the world with some balanced coverage.

Maybe because then Americans would see that we can have a strong national defense without stockpiling enough nuclear weapons to destroy humanity countless times? (I mean, really, detroying it once would do the trick, I think.) :shrug:
