You know, like in "The Stand"

What would his remaining supporters say then?

I'd guess it would be along the lines of "Think how much worse things would be if we had a Democrat in office!"

2. Satan would be dethroned
and replaced by a demon named George W. Bush. That name would sing down through history with the foul stench of burned and blasted bodies attached to it.

Only good thing is that there'd be many less of those Kool-Aid drinkers.

6. Hate always seems to survive like cockroaches, it seems.

If I were in such a post-apocalyptic predicament, the first thing I'd do is urge people to form communes. When you're reduced to hunting and gathering, you're chances of survival increase if you work with other--if you adopt mutual cooperation with respect to others, not mutual competition. Socialism is built on that principle.

This way, if you forage for food and fail to find food that day, people will share theirs with you when you get back home to the community at the end of the day knowing that if one of them didn't have food the next day, you'd return the favor in kind. If you lived alone and didn't find food for the day, you starve, and that is what the world we grew up in essentially has forced us to do. This is what it means when corporatists advocate getting rid of the safety nets of society. They want you divided and fighting each other so that they can profit off the misery.

With those hate-filled people, I can only say if I were to advocate socialism, I'd say that each individual also be given the choice not to share their food with those people if they continue to hate and want to destroy. However, if one has learned the lessons of forgiveness, then one would be indeed compelled to share food with these people and hope they realize the awesome gesture those who gave them food really made.

7. Would he and his cabal be part of the 8%?
Would they set up headquarters in the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas?

On a trivia note. King published "The Stand" before the original MGM caught fire. I remember watching the news on TV while the hotel burned and thinking of the book. What irony!

9. First fallacy: it would be 8% of "them" not "us" lol
Also, he would be hailed as ushering the long-awaited end-times (that have eluded so many other generations before them, even when all signs seemed to indicate so), fulfilling God's word blah blah blah.

I know plenty of (too many) people who acknowledge that we could well be on the way to fulfilling prophecy as told in the Book of The Revelation of John, and actually hope it comes soon.
