Texas Court Won't Dismiss DeLay Charges 43 minutes ago



AUSTIN, Texas - The state's highest criminal court on Monday denied Rep. Tom DeLay's request that the money laundering charges against him be dismissed or be sent back to a lower court for an immediate trial.


The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals denied the requests with no written order two days after he announced he was stepping down as House majority leader. DeLay was forced to temporarily relinquish the post after he was indicted on money laundering and conspiracy charges in September. He denies wrongdoing.

DeLay and his attorneys had been trying to rush to trial in Texas in hopes of clearing his name and allowing him to regain the position. That changed Saturday, though, when DeLay announced he would not attempt to reclaim the job.

2. Let me make sure I have this right.....

The conspiracy charges remain under Appeal filed by the Prosecutor , correct? These are the other charges which DeLay tried to also squash....but was unsuccessful as of this ruling....Am I on task?

4. The conspiracy charges were dropped. This is the only

charge he's facing (money laundering ?), SO FAR. Abramoff is sure to give Delay more time in court. :)

5. Mr thinks Delay has pissed off the Judges by asking the first Judge

to recuse himself? I could be wrong, but they may be teaching him a lesson?;) I just hope he FRIES!
