Read this Fundies--and feel like fools for ever trusting Bush...
Edited on Sun Apr-09-06 06:12 PM by TwoSparkles
This passage from the Frontline program, "The Choice 2004" really needs to be seen far and wide by everyone--but especially by religious Americans who have been duped into supporting Junior's warmongering, criminal agenda--simply because he sporadically quotes Bible verses and mentions God a few times a year.

These remarks from "The Choice 2004" are very telling and reveal the moment that Junior realized how effective religion was as a vote-getting device.

The remarks seem to document Junior's "aha moment" when he understood that his own political goals could be achieved by touting religion.

This snippet from Frontline features comments from Doug Wead--'88 campaign adviser to Bush Sr and long-time friend of Junior. In this exchange the '88 primary is discussed, in which Bush Sr. was losing to Pat Roberson in Iowa. Wead sent Junior to Iowa to help his daddy beat Robertson. Prior to this, Junior hadn't EVER discussed his religions beliefs or the topic of religion to any audience, political or otherwise. Additionally, it was at this time that the "religious right" blossomed as a powerful political faction.

--------------------------------------------------------
DOUG WEAD: And the conclusion was afterwards-- I said to G.W., "We could take out every one of those churches which are the foundation of the Robertson campaign and we could emasculate his effort in the South. And you see we could do it very easily." And he saw it.

NARRATOR: George W. campaigned all across the country that year, including Texas.

GEORGE W. BUSH: --because east Texas and Texas are going to be George Bush country this November.

NARRATOR: Somewhere along the way, he caught a glimpse of his own future.

DOUG WEAD: And sometimes he'd even say out loud, "Yeah, I could do this in Texas. This is what I could do in Texas." And sometimes he'd mumble when we'd talk about the numbers and where they were and he'd just almost salivate. "Wow." Said, "I could win the governorship of Texas with just the evangelical vote."

-------------------end of transcript----------

I don't think Doug Wead realized just how telling his words would be. It appears that Junior began "salivating" and "wowing" about religion--the very second he realized that religion-as-a-marketing-device could win him votes.

I don't know how any religious or spiritual person--could read those words and trust this man--especially when his entire presidency has evolved around war, death, killing innocent civilians, bankrupting the country, lying us into war, failing the Katrina victims, kicking the poor and underprivileged when they are down, destroying our environment and kow towing to the rich.

Time to wake up, Fundies. The religion that you hold so dear and sacred--is seen only as a PR device to this man.

1. Of course, the problem they will have with this
is that it came from PBS, and you know EVERYTHING they do is just to "persecute" Cristians.

3. There was another Frontline that dealt with the same subject.
"The Jesus Factor" was a real eye opener. You can watch it online or read the transcript here:

4. I don't think it ever was a matter of the Republicans trusting Bush
I think it is a matter of these assholes chosing Party power over the interests of the Country.

You could have a paper trail leading right to Bush authorizing the destruction of Valerie Plame to silence Wilson.

You could have a document showing Bush actually fixed the evidence against Iraq to support his intention to invade Iraq.

You could have billions disappearing from Iraq without congressional investigation.

You could have torture of completely innocent Iraqis caught up in drag nets and a deafening Silence from congress. In which the Republicans have control.

Yes, you will type replies in all caps saying: we have proof he has already done this!!!
Again I say: the Republican Party chose to defend the actions of Bush and engage in coordinated attacks against dissenters rather than stand behind their oaths of offices.
