We had a lurker this weekend and DU got an “A+”.....................

An acquaintance of mine has been wrestling with idiot boy’s screw-ups for sometime and of course I’ve only been too happy to help that “can’t stand this jerk one more second” attitude along as much as I could.

Let me give everyone a bit of info on this person so you’ll all know the types that are breaking ranks now. I don’t agree with all of her views but on the other hand I try to pick and choose those issues she finds most important to her life. She is VERY religious and has no problem with religion and politics having a somewhat shared part of daily life. She is not one to push her religion on anyone else though, she really is a sweet person. She, however, does have a HUGE problem with idiot boy’s lies and “deceitfulness in everything he does these days.” She also has a major issue with idiot boy and Cheney “possibly starting WW III by wanting to attack Iran because the whole Middle East could blow up.” Oh and the issue that will get her on a :rant: is "where is the love for our fellow man that our Bible teaches us about?".

In my discussions with this person I of course mentioned DU and invited her to check us out anytime she wanted to. I told her to simply lurk and read and that she’d find all political types left of the far right. I've also told her that chances were good she’d find something that would interest her. Her initial comment about possibly checking out DU was, “I’ll probably never be one of those Nader types.” My reply to her was, “Well, there are a few of us like that at DU, so you’ll be in good company. Just check us out and see what you think and if you're in for a good laugh you've got to make a point of checking out the the hate mail from really wacko fundies. Beware though, some of those so called Christians get very vulgar."

All I asked of her a number of times was to check out DU and then send me an email or let me know in person what she thought of our web site. This weekend I almost literally ran into her at the grocery store and her comment was, “That web site is great. They even have a latest news forum and other places that people post comments about everything. Where do they get all that news anyway, I’ve never seen all that stuff? I want to read some more though”

Of course I told her we have a phenomenal administration here and other people that do nothing but scour the news waves for information of all kinds. Then I went on to tell her she was more than welcomed to lurk some more but that joining would open up many of the features to her that she couldn’t get into by simply lurking. She indicated she was seriously considering it too.

So this could be our latest full convert from the dark side.

2. Well if the lady is reading this now

There are certainly some far left folks in here but there are also some not so far lefties in here as well. No matter, we all share a common bond: An intense desire to get our country back from the facists who have taken it over. So I hope she (you) enjoy and are at least somewhat enlightened. There is always room for more converts in the Democratic Party. And as I said, we are not all way far left, even though the corporate media may want people to believe that.

i cannot even get people to the point of being able to discuss, let alone mention this site, further to suggest they simply lurk. they are so afraid of what they may see that will oppose the view they work so hard at keeping in tact. so pat you on the back for the sell..... but bigger, god for her that she was open enough to even type in the site. then to lurk and read, another good for her

she will find we are a lot like her, from your description. being a christian myself that is appalled by the lying in the name of the lord. truly offensive. and few are extreme left with nader. but i hope she is aware this is internet. some braver than they ever would be face to face mouthing off, in truly offensive way. internet. some just like to be extreme and say the worst, cause it is fun, good sport. and to those posters, be willing to dismiss them. not let them anger her. this is a place of information. certainly dont take all serious

I hope she encourages others to come here and find out the news. I hope she finds our arguments refreshing, and that she considers joining. I would recommend it because you can see all of the groups, including the prayer circle-a group that I think would really appeal to her.
