Protest stickers on pay phones
I saw them yesterday for the first time. BIG stickers on pay phones saying "THIS PHONE IS TAPPED!!!" Underneath in smaller type was the message that due to the Patriot Act, pay phones are subject to wiretaps. There was a web addy underneath the message but I didn't write it down and can't remember it now. (Bad, Laura, BAD!)

Great idea for a protest, and really effective visually.

Has anyone else seen those yet?

Too bad so few use payphones any more, thanks to cellphones.

8. I have seen some other stickers in public--just not these.
The gas pumps got decorated a few months ago with "Gas prices brought to you by the GOP" and that kind of thing, but this was the first time I'd seen the pay phones done up.

I love the concept of sticker war, I really do. Fairly high profile for anyone that sees it, and low personal liability risk--not a bad combo for people who are afraid to get face to face like some of us do.

I think they still throw in a few free ones if you buy other stuff from their website. The site is worth checking out.

5. I have only one question.
I've heard of 'pay phones', but didn't they go out of existance along with LPs?

6. On what? Who has seen a payphone?
Seriously, the payphone may be on the extinction list before too long . . .

9. Hey--This is the MidWest! We Still have a few pay phones!
I'll grant you, we don't have a lot of them, but they are still here.

I really DO miss phone booths, however... Where else is Superman gonna get dressed?

7. But what gives us the right to "vandalize" those phones?

:sarcasm:

Just beat the "Law and Order" types who usually post in grafiti threads to the punch.

I thinks it's a great idea.

10. Toll booth ticket dispensers are a better idea.
Pay phones? How quaint! Most cities don't even have them any more...their only customers are drug dealers who don't want to be traced.

11. Toll Booth? Surely you jest!
This is downstate Illinois. Toll Roads are a "metro thing" not something we see among the corn and beans down here!

:)

12. Oops! I'm from New England...
There are toll booths to use a men's room!

LOL!

13. I use them!
I don't have a cell phone, and sometimes I just have to use a payphone.

I'm thinking it's time for me to get with the century, though...
