Prodi complains about vote delay
THE leader of Italy's centre-left opposition Romano Prodi criticised what he called an "incomprehensible" delay in the result of an extremely tight Italian general election.

Pollsters described the result in both houses parliament too close to call, but in a brief address to supporters outside his central Rome headquarters, Prodi described the delay as "absolutely incomprehensible".

"We don't understand what's happening, we still don't have the results, but we are full of hope and we are waiting," he said to loud cheers from thousands of supporters anxiously waiting to claim victory.

Counting of votes cast in the election had been going on for 10 hours without a verdict being delivered.
Pollsters Nexus said earlier it was unable to give a projection of the final result because Prodi's Union and the rival House of Freedoms of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi were at "absolute parity".

5. Berlusconi installed electronic voting machines in several areas.
Otherwise, prodi would have already been declared the winner.

if berlusconi wins, the election was stolen.

6. Dejá Vu every step of the way, innit?
First he's got a comfy lead...

Then all the reports claim an 'unexpected surge' for his opponent,
who just happens to control an ASSLOAD of the nation's media...

Now, the "inexplicable delay"...

We all know what's next, don't we?

7. I hope that the Italians won't follow the example of the sheeple in the US
and take an election theft lying down!

8. Unlike the American sheeple....
I fear the Italians will erupt into massive protest and possibly violence if there is even a whiff of impropriety. I find it amazing that Prodi, who exit polls said would receive 54% of the vote, is now in a flat-footed tie. :eyes:
What does this tell us? That no matter what the size of our Democratic candidates' predicted margins of victory, it probably won't be enough. I fear there can never be another fair election in this country while electronic machines with no paper trail are utilized.
