MPs "debate" Afghanistan mission; no party opposed and no Commons vote

Fighting terrorists in Afghanistan is better than waiting until they show up in Canada, Defence Minister Gordon O'Connor told the Commons on Monday.

"Canada is in Afghanistan because it is in our national interest," he said. "Our security begins very far from our borders." "Must we wait for terrorists to appear in Vancouver, Montreal or here in Ottawa before we recognize the very real threat that they represent for our security?"

4. So you too are fighting them over there so you don't have
to fight them over here. What a load of crap. What the Afghanis are doing is making sure the opium market is well supplied and for sure it's already over here both in Canada and the USA.

6. I like your optimism, LTD.
I don't want a Canadian-style rerun of what I've seen happening in the US.

7. Has any minority Cdn gov lasted longer than 1 year?
Not that I can recall...and Harper's busily pissing off the vast majority of Canadians. I think the Liberals have learned their lesson, now it's time to say buh bye to Harper; he's a disgrace to Canada.
