Rove says Democrats are cheating in elections!
LMFAO.. this is too funny:

"I heard Karl Rove speaking to the Republican Lawyers Association on Friday (via C-Span) and he was going on and on and on about how the Democrats are cheating in elections. He cited "case" after "case" in which Democrats are disenfranchising Republicans all over the country. It's shocking: the voter fraud, the throwing out of Republicans absentee ballots, the partisan vote count manipulation. He's very worried about the integrity of our elections"

Yeah we're cheating and we're doing it so well that Repugs have the House, The Senate and the Executive.... :eyes:

The pot calling the snow black.

I think he belongs to what someone called "the future felons" in Florida.

These were people who were removed from the Florida voting roles due to felonies committed. The dates for when the felonies were committed were all in the future.

13. Perhaps they are testing a strategy for the fall, where they challenge
Republican losses by claiming Dem cheating.

It would be classic Rove to "set up" some fake cheating, apparently by Dems, in some district where the Repubs have no chance, and "uncover" it, to try and discredit all results where Dems won.

Think about it.

Gads, we're really bad at it too, aren't we.
1. He's trying to get his troops worked up for the 2006 elections. If they think WE'RE cheating, then they will feel justified in cheating themselves.

2. It's harder for us to complain that they're cheating, when they say we're cheating first. Classic Rovian tactic. If they cheat and we call them on it, they will now just call us copy cats.

Nevertheless, they control the presidency, the House and the Senate, and somehow Republicans are being disenfranchised. Are they trying to say that the governement would be MORE Republican if only we'd just stop cheating?

What sore winners.

22. Attack your opponent with what you are guilty of yourself.
Rove Republican Tactic: 101

Best case scenario: People will believe your opponent is guilty of what you are guilty of yourself, so you project your guilt on to your opponent, and your opponent suffers the consequences of your guilty actions.

Worst case scenario: People will believe both are guilty of it, so it is a wash and both you and your opponent end up equal. Which punishes your opponent with your guilt and eliminates the possibility of your opponent using your guilty actions against you.

If you want to know exactly what they are guilty of, just listen to what they accuse their political opponents and enemies of doing.

23. Classic example of
Projection, likely the very last example here:

2a. Freudian Projection
The following is a collection of definitions of projection from orthodox psychology texts. In this system the distinct mechanism of projecting own unconscious or undesirable characteristics onto an opponent is called Freudian Projection.

:bluebox: "A defense mechanism in which the individual attributes to other people impulses and traits that he himself has but cannot accept. It is especially likely to occur when the person lacks insight into his own impulses and traits."

:bluebox: "The externalisation of internal unconscious wishes, desires or emotions on to other people. So, for example, someone who feels subconsciously that they have a powerful latent homosexual drive may not acknowledge this consciously, but it may show in their readiness to suspect others of being homosexual."

:bluebox: "Attributing one's own undesirable traits to other people or agencies, e.g., an aggressive man accuses other people of being hostile."

:bluebox: "The individual perceives in others the motive he denies having himself. Thus the cheat is sure that everyone else is dishonest. The would-be adulterer accuses his wife of infidelity."

:bluebox: "People attribute their own undesirable traits onto others. An individual who unconsciously recognises his or her aggressive tendencies may then see other people acting in an excessively aggressive way."

:bluebox: "Projection is the opposite defence mechanism to identification. We project our own unpleasant feelings onto someone else and blame them for having thoughts that we really have."

2b. (General) Projection
Here projection is assuming that others act or perceive similarly – according to this definition it is not necessary for a projected trait to be undesirable or unconscious. Projection is probably inherent in social animals and the single most important psychological mechanism. The following are given as examples:

:bluebox: Individual A assumes that B sees the colour red as he does, until informed that B is colour-blind;

:bluebox: Someone who never lies is easy to deceive because he projects his truthfulness onto others, assuming that others are honest also;

:bluebox: ‘It takes one to know one’;

:bluebox: An inept con-man fears that others are trying to cheat him, signals his fear and alerts others;

:bluebox: (Freudian) An individual who possesses malicious characteristics, but who is unwilling to perceive himself as a protagonist, convinces himself that his opponent feels and would act the same way.

KKKarl means what he's saying. The electronic voting machines will, eventually, have to answer to a standards board and to real and verifiable testing. That will happen. The Rethugs know this, they aren't stupid, just evil.

They are going after the Democratic base groups before they ever get near a ballot box or voting machine. They want to go after registration and restrict groups that have traditionally aligned with Dems from ever getting registered to vote. They will do this by making registration itself harder to do and they will do it under the umbrella that KKKarl talked about: fairness and making sure that the dead don't vote and making sure that all 'eligibility' guidelines are met, etc.

This is why George had the issue of Voter ID cards come up. KKKarl knows that minorities are less likely to go through hoops to get registered. He is making up more hoops. This is part of what he is selling in the whole immigration debate: *those* people want to vote and the Democrats are just going to let them in without verification.

This is a very real threat and could, in the long run, be much worse than anything to do with the machines.

40. Everything Rove does is for a reason.....
...and probably not for laughs, either.

The first thing that I thought of when I heard this (I have become so cynical)) was how he "planted" a listening device of some sort in his office (when Bush was running for governor) and then accused Bush's opponent of taping their conversation. (I think I am remembering this correctly.)

So, now Rove again has to set the stage for a "plant". His talking points for the future will include "cleaning up dirty elections"....then.....he will tamper with the election in some way in order to make it look like the Dems did it. This man has a purpose for everything he does. So don't take his ability to manipulate the message (and elections) for granted. :evilfrown: :evilfrown: :evilfrown:

(I used to be a hopeful ,optimistic person....now, I'm just mad..:mad: :mad: :mad: )

like this, and I thought of EXACTLY the same thing you did, that he is setting the stage to "plant" some kind of fake "memogate" evidence that "Dems cheated!!" in some election, and use this to promote some idea, like any Dem victories in the fall are not legit etc.

Dude will stop at nothing. Some of his ideas are boneheaded and some fail, but he's like a shark, never stops moving or coming up with slimy dishonest schemes like this.

47. He's preparing a strategy here
Accuse the Dems of cheating, so that when the pubs cheat (disenfranchise thousands of voters already underway)and we scream about it they can say, wait a goshdarned minute, you've been cheating. You have refused to count the votes of those brave men we put in harm's way for no reason. You are rigging the registrations and counts in your favor ... ad nauseum.

Then if/when they hold their majorities, even though the vast majority of the country thinks we're way down the path of destruction here, and we scream we won't be taken seriously, because the "Democrats cheat on elections" universal mantra will already be out there.

Preemptive accusations work wonders. They accused the Clinton White House of taking money from the Chinese, how many people know about Haley Barbour on a boat just outside Hong Kong with both hands out raking in dough?

It would be wise to really crank up the noise in every locality regarding voter disenfranchisement, the questionable ownership of all the vote counting machines, the black lists created by various info corps (of mostly black and Hispanic people) full of law abiding persons now considered felons for the purposes of elections and so on.

54. They are guilty of what they are yelling about loudest
Happens every time something like this comes up with regards to the Repukes. We on DU know what is going on, but it never makes the MSM. Then the repukes come out and start accusing the dems of the same thing, when the dems have done nothing.

55. So the election process has been corrupted... and Republicans control
everything.

Yes, clearly the Democrats have rigged the system.

63. there must be something serious about to come out on this (against repubs)
cause this is a Pandora's Box that is being opened.
The GAO Report on Ohio will be the first thing that could
end up seeing the light of day.

Read a thread last night about something coming out on this
by someone prominent...sorry I don't have the thread handy.
Anyway, perhaps that's why Rove is attempting to "pre-empt"
this story. (as many of you have stated)

My ears are perked over this.

66. More Rovian framing.
Next time an election fraud issue comes up, the media will have no choice but to supplant Democratic complaints with these artificial Rove complaints as a means to balance them out. In effect, even if clear evidence exists of Republican vote-tampering, the media "truth" will be right in the middle. Partly because of how the issue is framed ("we aren't stealing elections, the Democrats are!"), and partly because of the already-evident, inherent need of the media to portray everything in terms of Republican-vs.-Democrat equivalence.

69. Classic case of projection: accuse others of precisely what you are
guilty of doing yourself! Rove has done more harm to the moral fabric of this country, that I don't know if our faith will ever be restored. F-ing, pathological LIAR!

71. Make him prove it! He says a lot, most of it lies, and no one ever
challenges him because he hides and talks only to rightwing audiences.

This is what he did when he accused Democrats of not looking at 9/11 as a threat, or some such nonsense, in tending to create the impression, again, that Democrats do what he did, dodge wars.

That time he was slammed. Democratic veterans from all over the country wrote to him and a blog was set up where they could let him know what they thought of him. So his little stupid, childish trick backfired on him, and only highlighted his own cowardice. He wasn't seen in public for quite a while after that little outing.

If he were dealing with honest people, ie, Democrats, he would be laughed out of town. He is no genius, he is a thug with no conscience. That's why the Bush family hired him. Ruthless, without a conscience and a liar, he is a despicable, cowardly individual who never would have made it anywhere, had he not latched on to the most criminal organization in the country. Like most crooks.

People should go after him on this statement ~ and demand based on his lies, that all machines be thrown out before the November election. Make him the poster boy for getting rid of those machines ~ 'even Karl Rove says that it's easy to steal an election'. Twist his lying words the way he does to others ~ what a truly low, sick individual he is.
