5. I can't get that image out of my mind

Not the actual picture of the the SWAT Team, but the fact that several people mentioned that these APC's were going by constantly, filled with soldiers with automatic rifles. And NOTHING was being done to evacuate the people. FOR DAYS.

In fact, I remember that one guy said that the soldiers were drinking water from a a CASE of water the soldiers had with them. The guy yelled, "Give us some of that water, we need some!" (paraphrasing), and the soldiers kept on driving.

It's like the soldiers had orders other than to rescue or help the citizens they are supposed to serve.

But the event that really got me mad was the cutting of the phone lines in Jefferson(?) Parish. The local sheriff had to post a guard on the telephone wires to make sure that the GOVERNMENT TROOPS DIDN'T TRY THAT AGAIN.

What a Hell on Earth that must have been, not only because of the hurricane, but the response of your own government.

7. I was terribly upset when he won in 2000, and then I told myself I was

overreacting. I said to myself, "Well, it's only four years, how much damage can he really do?" I can't think of that moment now without chuckling ruefully.

And I can't shake the feeling that he's not through with us yet. I expect additional horror of some sort. Perhaps that's only because bushco is the most uniquely alarming and nervewracking administration I've lived through, and the past five years have shredded my nerves. But I do know he's capable of doing an awful lot of damage in a very short time. The man is a wrecking ball.
