Cheney was shot accidentally
Mayor: Cheney was shot accidentally years ago
VP wasn’t hurt by errant shotgun blast during hunting trip, Forrest says

Associated Press

ALBUQUERQUE - Years before Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot a lawyer during a Texas quail hunt, Cheney himself was on the receiving end of an errant shotgun blast.

Carlsbad Mayor Bob Forrest said he doesn’t know for certain if he or his twin brother, Dick Forrest, fired the shot during the hunting trip in the late 1990s. It accidentally pelted Cheney, who was then chief executive at Halliburton Co.

Cheney wasn’t hurt but he was miffed, Forrest told the Journal.

“He said, ‘You guys watch where you’re shooting!’ He was very offended,” Forrest said.

The hunting group included the Forrest twins, Cheney and Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M. They were hunting on a southern New Mexico ranch owned by the late Colin McMillan, an assistant secretary of defense under President George H.W. Bush, Forrest said. He said the senator wasn’t the shooter.

A spokesman for Domenici confirmed that the senator hunts with the Forrest brothers and has hunted with Cheney but declined further comment.

1. Bullshit made-up story to take the heat off Cheney.
ZERO proof that this ever happened.

2. I question there is any truth in this as well.
Just wanted to put it out there so we could all see it.

3. While Secretly...
he was shot through the heart, taken away to a secret government lab where he received one of the first top-secret mechanical hearts... (while the public medical scientists still haven't gotten one to work). Of course, unknown to most people, the heart is the organ that controls whether a person has a soul, a conscience and is their moral center. Thus Cheney's personality is explained.
:sarcasm:

4. Maybe true, but it could have been one pellet from 200 yards...
There's no indication that the skin was even bruised.

5. What I don't get is, why bother telling (or making up) this story now?
It's not as if the shooting is really top of mind anymore with people. They're thinking about other, worse things right now that Cheney has done. Do they want to go back now and remind people he shot somebody? Why?

What, do they think this is going to curry sympathy for him? They'd be better off admitting him to the hospital for "heart palpitations."

6. Cheney's office has not returned called placed by AP. umm...

A message left Monday with Cheney’s office seeking comment was not immediately returned to The Associated Press. The Journal said several phone calls to Cheney’s office last week also were not returned.
