VIDEO OF AN UNDERGROUND DETONATION (MUST SEE)

First, this is a 100Kt blast, but it's 1000 FEET underground. Our bunker busters are going to be detonating (far) less than 100 feet.

From here you can see the results of low Kt yield blasts at 1000 feet reaching the surface: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=900238&mesg_id=900238

But the compelling video above will be more indicitive of a low-yield blast less than 100 feet under the surface...

Given the fact that Depleted Uranium dust from the Gulf and Iraq wars is reaching the UK (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=900238&mesg_id=902184), one can only imagine the radiation distribution of B61 blasts ranging from 0.3Kt to 340Kt in Iran.

The U.S. would not only be breaking international law, but it would be exposing most of Europe and the Middle East and parts of Asia to high levels of radiation.

1. Thanks, I lost the URL
of a nice library of nuclear explosions.

Then again, maybe that's not such a bad thing.

2. People NEED to be REMINDED of what USING NUKES MEANS
This will bring about more devastation than people can imagine... TENS if not HUNDREDS of MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WILL DIE.

3. They would be exposing Islamic countries and people to fallout.
And for them, that is not a problem.

5. Not just the Middle East...
Most of Europe and parts of Asia as well.

I have a hard time believing Europe will not move to stop such an attack by the U.S.

8. There's a difference between seeing a graphic animation and
The real thing...

Plus this video highlights that EVEN 1000 FEET UNDERGROUND, a blast can reach the surface.

Iran will be full of Mushroom Clouds... the very thing that BushCo used as an image of fear against our own people... are we going to allow him to do this to another country?!?!?!

10. Here is a Telegraph graphic that explains some of this info:

In fact, in order to prevent a 1 kiloton blast from breaching the surface, it would have to be detonated at least 1000 feet down. The deepest a penetrator has ever gotten was 18 feet of rock, and in fact it is physically impossible for a weapon made of even the strongest materials known to man to go deeper than 90 feet, the forces on it would be just too great.

So, a 1 kiloton bomb detonated the deepest it such weapons have been able to penetrate would generate 60,000 tons of extremely radioactive fallout. But notice how deep such a weapon would actually be able to destroy a bunker: 80 feet. In other words if the bunker is buried under at least 100 feet of rock, even a 1 kiloton blast won't be able to destroy it.

So the only realistic use of these weapons would be to target the bunker entrances, with the goal being to block the entrance tunnels. Of course a determined enough nation could just dig new tunnels, but that would take time.
