You know what the cover story for Time magazine is this week?

I wonder what it would have been if we had the media of 30-40 years ago.

1. It might have been the same, but I'm sure the reporting would have

pointed out that since the federal law makers and state law makers, neither which have any practical educational experience (and likely no education in education) have begun mandating not only exit tests which must be passed in order to graduate, but also specific time per day to be spent on some subjects, and minute to minute lesson plans, there have been more and more drop outs.

I sub in a school for students who can't pass one or the other portion of the F-CATS. They work hard, but just can't get the magic grade to graduate. they get frustrated.

Or as one young man said to me: "I am almost twenty years old and I can't check out of school for any reason unless a parent comes and signs me out. I've had enough of this nonsense."
