Overheard in Arkansas Kroger.
I was picking up some sour cream and walked by the butcher and a customer while they were talking. She something like "But the tanks are full". I don't know what came before that, but I understood they were talking about the high price of gasoline. The butcher then said, "The people put in a Republican Congress and president and now they have to pay the price." That's all I heard but it was encouraging.

The pocketbook is a powerful force even if the media is out to lunch. The Democrats need to hammer home the price of all of the NeoCon's dangerous plans. The people need to see how expensive Corporate control of the country is to the average American. Things will change. We need Democratic leadership that is not in the Corporate pocket, though...........

1. Good news.
Overheard exchanges like this are encouraging. You are absolutely right--the Dems should focus on what Republican rule has cost the typical American--in higher gas costs, certainly higher insurance premiums and drug costs, and of course, the deficit and how much that will cost us all.

The Dems have so much to work with in the 2006 campaign--I just hope they don't mess up as they so often do.

3. Exactly right! We have the high ground on so many issues. If
only the media would get the word out. The way things are going the tide will only turn if things get really, really terrible. Then, either the Repub "faithful" just won't show up to vote or enough will go Dem to make stealing impossible. Why does it have to get so bad? The media bears a lot of the responsibility, imho.

2. You're right--the media, and Congress itself are isolated and don't
realize how hard it is for people these days. It's a winning issue for the Dems--they just need to start listening to someone other than Tim Russert.

4. And maybe, just maybe, after the next election is stolen
and nobody they know voted repub, they'll begin to believe that the last two were stolen as well.

7. People suspect something about the last two elections,
But have forced it to the back of their minds, so they don't have to think about it. There were just too many Republicans out there, who refused to vote for DimSon in the last election. With harder times, comes more thought about whether DimSon should even be there to begin with.

5. No one cares except in quiet conversation.
Independent truck drives have protested in the past.

There are few protesters now and journalists don't care.

So it seems.

6. Things always start there. As we swirl down the tube the voices
will get louder. As more people overhear and agree there will be a proverbial "tipping point". Any talking means there is some thinking going on. Democratic Progressivism benefits from thinking.
