In Columbia, a band of about 30 protesters outnumbered supporters waiting along a roadway leading to Columbia Regional Airport, where Bush, wearing a dark suit and blue tie, touched down in Air Force One at about 11:20 a.m.

Sapp said he decided to join the protestors because of a dissatisfaction with the current administration and their myriad positions. "It isn't really one issue, it's a lot of issues for me," he said.

What the hell is this Lutheran Sr Srvcs Community doing letting him in the door. The only way he will be stopped is if he is unwelcome everywhere by everybody. He eats this shit up.

Or at least part of them. If you are ever in Columbia, one place you've got to drop in on is The Peace Nook, right on Broadway in downtown Columbia. Mark Haim and many others are the driving force behind all of the anti-war protests in this area.

And while we're in the middle of a red state, Columbia is still quite the blue town. And at this time, even our republicans are becoming disgusted with Bushboy and his war, and are switching teams. I think we're down to literally a handful of freeper counterprotesters for our Sat. morning vigil.

Last big protest on the third anniversary we turned out 2000 people. And that was a low number, in the run up to the war and right after we were turning out 5000 plus.

Way to go folks, you do Columbia proud!

I was wondering why I woke up feeling nauseated this morning. I guess it was the foul stench emanating from the center of the state (in St Louis here). Great job with the protest though :)

Sadly though, he had to land here. Funny though, he went down to Jefferson City, a conservative bastion. He knows better than to try to roll into Columbia, he would have three quarters of the town turn out to protest his ass.

I've thought about moving to Columbia before. I love the idea of a blue area and I love the downtown. I just cannot afford the cost of living there.

Cost of living is the same, if not lower than in St. Louis. And you wouldn't have to drive as much, unless you decided to really live out in the boonies.

Deposits absolutely suck, and some of the landlords around here are getting outrageous, first month rent, last month rent, and matching security:crazy: I'm so glad that I got out of the rental trap when I did.

KC isn't a bad area either, lots of stuff to do, and it does have a lot of liberal people. It does have a large crowd of RW fundies though, which I'm a bit allergic to.

Right now that blue place is not Warrensburg, even w/ CMSU here.


And the landlords in my town want first, last, security, etc. They also calculate the cost of rent according to CMSU. They figure that they can get at least 2 college students in each bedroom and they charge that way. And many of the places are run down, to say the least.

$500 a month for a crappy 2 bedroom trailer in a place where the average job pays only $7 an hour is a bit pricey.

20. Columbia, and Boone County in general

Are quite liberal areas. The real RW nutcases are few and far between, and with the BS that Bushboy has been doing lately, most of our moderate Republicans are coming out against him.

Back in Bushboy's salad days right after the war started, our Saturday morning vigils would only bring out ten freeper counterprotesters at best. Now they're down to three-five on a good day.

And the fact that they had the Boy Blunder(our govenor, Matt Blunt) appearing with Bush did not help Bushboy's image around here. Everybody, right left and center are chomping at the bit to kick his ass out of office.

And like I said earlier, they didn't dare head north on 63, and come into Columbia proper, they know better. Instead, they went south to Jefferson City, a conservative bastion. They know where they're not wanted.
