Why NO REPUBLICAN Will Probably EVER Get My Vote AGAIN:
If they were STUPID enough to support George W. Bush, then they are too damn stupid to be running the country!!!

4. I swore an oath in 1998 --- NEVER, NEVER, NEVER.
I hadn't voted Republican in many, many years anyway, but Clinton's impeachment proceeding clinched it for me once and for all.

Fuck 'em.

I'm the son of an FDR/Labor Dem. I made my bones (at age 7) on the McGovern campaign. Sorry, but I'm just not wired that way... ;) :hi:

5. The last time I voted for a pubbie was 1978, in Mass. and he was
more liberal than his Dem counterpart.

Once Reagan handed the party to the religiously insane and the hopelessly corrupt, I knew I could never vote for another one, no matter how worthy the man or woman.

The party became the problem.

6. The only time I voted as a Republican
My husband and I registered Republican so we could vote in the CA primary for John Anderson and against Reagan.

7. My strategy
I have a different strategy. Although I'm pretty much a yellow dog Democrat, I have sometimes voted for Republican candidates. The last R of any significance for whom I voted was Nancy Landon Kassebaum for Senator (R-KS). Sadly, she's retired now, but she was a helluva Senator by any standards. Furthermore, she was very much a moderate. By today's standards she'd be termed a raving liberal.

When a Republican has shown themself to be worthy of a cross-over vote, I will do precisely that. It doesn't happen very often, and is happening much less often now than before, but a candidate like Kassebaum is precisely the type of Republican for whom I will vote. Note, that I do not consider *any* of the current Republican Congress critters worth a moment's consideration for that distinction.

So, it's back to my normal yellow dog ways.

9. we have one council member here who actually thinks that the R after
his name stands for REPRESENTATIVE of ALL the people. I told him that he had apparently not gotten the memo!! alas, his district is not mine--and the other council members are totally worthless, and getting worse.

10. I never vote for Republicans
not since my very first election in 1990....I would if they were the complete opposite of a Republican, but that is a tautology. I have, however, mixed in a couple of independents and third party candidates.

A liberal/progressive/populist Democrat will get my vote every time. I will run over people to do so.

12. Why in the hell would you ever vote for a republican?
I don't understand that.
If you are dissatisfied with the Dems, there IS more than one other party, y'know

13. You mean you would actually consider voting for republican IDEOLOGY?
This is the kind of thinking that gets people voting for "the "man" or "the candidate", instead of what true republican ideology is...

Republican ideology is exactly what's being created and being implemented in this country today...Kill the "NEW DEAL" is republican ideology...Not one republican ever voted for it...Destroy Social Security, minimum wage, unemployment insurance, child labor laws...Destroy the workers voice - UNIONS!!! Destroy the eight work hour day with no overtime pay, destroy Medicare, no universal health care, exploiting our environment for corporate gain, privatize everything, discriminate against women, minorities and neocon homophobia...Never ending wars for profit, and destroying public education...Republican ideology!!!!

That's the republican way...that's their ideology and agenda and it wouldn't matter how honest any republican is, this is republican philosophy...The republicans see any government help as socialism...

EXCEPT, they sure as fuck don't mind it when government helps them, (with our tax dollars) for their corporations and their multinationals... (Then they call it...SUBSIDIES)!!!
