MSM going after Seymour Hersh now?
In the last story on ABC's World News Tonight, they were reporting on rich people who skirt paying taxes even though they follow the letter of the law. The last person they mentioned doing so was Seymour Hersh of all people. (To those who have been sleeping, Sy Hersh was the one who recently reported Bush Regime plans of attacking Iran with nukes.)

Coincidence? Hmmmmm....

1. This is an old Robert Novak tactic. Authors can set themselves

up as corporations to limit what they pay into Social Security. So fucking what? It is indubitably legal, not like all the shit * pulls that need phony legal opinions from Alberto and Harriet to justify them.

2. Oh brother - why didn't they mention Rush Limpballs, Cheney, etc.
The Repuke list would go on far longer than the Dems.

Besides, it was the REPUKES who set the tax laws up to FAVOR THE RICH!

3. They're not "the MSM!!"
They're the Corporate Media - and this just proves it! There's nothing "mainstream" about those hacks.

5. What are they complaining about?
If he paid no taxes, he was one of many millionares who don't pay any taxes.

6. Most salient point
Corporate Media, indeed. Just doing their job like a good PR department, they don't tell you what to think, just what to think about.

9. Yes, you meant that those news sources espouse mainstream thinking.
Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 06:42 PM by ClassWarrior
Any alternative news sources are extremist. It's very clear that's what you meant. Except that's not what you meant. That's why it's important to choose one's words carefully.

Please pick up a copy of "Don't Think of an Elephant" by George Lakoff. It's an easy read and it'll get you thinking.

10. I'm sure we're already on the same political page, but...
I'm not wasting one moment of my time having such a concern about nomenclature. Again, everyone knows what I meant. Including you.

12. Extreme assumption you're making -- that if I don't read your...
materials then that leads to me not "reading books or learning something."

Um, I'll be nice and just say "time to chill out."

15. That's your interpretation of what he meant.
Whereas others would interpret mainstream media to mean the media that the majority of the people recieve. The message itself is not what is being called mainstream.

I won't disagree taht the media is servile to corporate interests, but to pick on this guy for calling it the mainstream media is fucking ridiculous.

16. How can you skirt paying taxes by following the laws? More crap from MSM.
Rich people get to take deductions. When the middle and lower classes find a way to use those deductions, they become loop holes and are immediately closed by the rich congress. What a stupid story. Definately a "cooincidence". Good catch.

17. You beat me to it...
I was just going to write:

"So, I'm watching the end of World News Tonight where they had a segment about tax loopholes (I didn't catch the whole thing, nor am I a tax scholar, so the details of the piece are beyond me) and who do they hold up as an example of the over-privileged abusing tax laws? None other than Seymour Hersh. At the end of the piece, Elizabeth Vargas regales the camera with a sh*t-eating grin that practically screamed out revenge. Anyone see this?"

Pretty obvious. if you ask me.
