Ladies and gentlemen---our esteemed pResident now hides behind bulldozers!
Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 06:53 PM by TwoSparkles
I find this story hard to believe. Yet, it happened in my home town today! Lucky us.

Our coward-in-chief--using "security" as an excuse--had the City of Des Moines create a "fortress of heavy equipment" along his motorcade route to an area nursing home.

Obviously, Junior didn't want to look at any protesters today.

The article even states, "In the old days, wooden barriers were enough of a security measure during presidential visits."

A bevy of dump trucks, end loaders and other large, heavy equipment was placed along both sides of the road.

You've got to see the story link--there's link to video. You can view--for yourself--the great lengths that the world's biggest cowardly Bubble Boy is taking these days to shield himself from "We The People."

Junior can barricade himself inside a fortress comprised of a million dump trucks but America will still see what a moronic failure he is!

http://www.kcci.com/news/8624920/detail.html
------------------------------
From the article:
Construction equipment was used as barriers in several areas along Bush's route.

"At first, I thought they were going to rip up the street, but that would be an excessive amount of bulldozers and stuff for that," said Julie Traver, of Des Moines.

The first of 10 road graders pulled up in front of the Wesley Acres Care Center at about 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, gobbling up a whole lane of Grand Avenue.

Soon after, seven city dump trucks and an end loader were stationed to the west, creating a perimeter to protect the president. It's what the Secret Service calls a blast barrier.

2. And this wasn't the first time.
They did it when the idiot was campaigning in 2000.

Notice how they moved all that heavy equipment during early and late rush hour.

Edited to add the qualifier "these days." That's not what the limo is designed to do and, God willing, will never be used in that way ever again.

9. They did the same thing in 2000 when he visited as a pres. candidate!
That kind of debunks the "security" issue, unless he was paranoid about CIA "insurgents" who knew beforehand that the election would be stolen & this country would soon be put at risk.

22. This is just unbelievable. If he is so afraid of "we the people",
why doesn't he just stay in D.C. for a while and do some of that hard work he's always talking about instead of running around the country, trying to prop up his unpopular plans and wasting millions if not billions of dollars with his travel expenses. Can you imagine what just one trip like this must cost when you consider the use of AF1, his entourage, local police and security efforts, and the time lost by local citizens due to the blocked or slowed down traffic that his visits entail?

47. The heavy machinery is designed
Edited on Wed Apr-12-06 06:35 PM by MaggieSwanson
to intimidate, to play up the fear of terrorism.

I was arrested during election year for civil disobedience. Two friends and I walked between two earth movers, part of a block-long nose-to-nose barricade.

Our purpose was to draw attention to the use of fear as a campaign tool.
http://desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041027/NEWS09/410270353/1001

The heavy machinery and the snipers and bomb dogs in Cedar Rapids, Iowa that October afternoon were there to put an exclamation point on the pResident's "War President" status.

By the way, taxpayers paid for the Des Moines visit, which was in truth a fundraiser for gubernatorial candidate Jim Nussle. By stopping at the Senior Center first, it became billed as a trip to talk about Medicare.

Taxpayers also pay for the heavy machinery to be moved around.

Here's a link to the recap I posted last night about *'s visit, still feeling the post-protest euphoria...

Thanks for your tenacious attitude, and for yelling at *'s limo.

I agree, that the heavy equipment is designed to instill fear. When you have no communication skills, diplomacy or grace--you go for the fear factor I guess.
