2. I tape the Newshour every day and watch it in the evenings
It only recently started showing the names and pics of those killed in Afghanistan in addition to those in Iraq.

It's heartbreaking to me to see the 19- and 20-year-olds - their lives have hardly begun, yet are now snuffed out. Afghanistan I agreed with, but not Iraq.

So many lies, so many lives...........

7. No - they added the Afghanistan troops before Christmas
Before that it was just "the service personnel killed in Iraq".

11. I watch the Newshour every night, but I usually have to leave the
room when that segment comes on. I just can't bear to see those faces and realize that last year some of them were graduating from high school. And I always think that the older soldiers are probably leaving children who now have no father. It just saddens me.

10. He was an Afghanistan casualty.
A National Guard medic; he was killed in a large Taliban attack on a US outpost there. A Canadian soldier from the Princess Patricia Light Infantry died in that battle--the first Canadian hostile-fire loss--and several others were wounded.

Not sure what else one can say--RIP, soldiers. You were all better men than those who sent you there.

5. That always saddens me.
I thought at one time - a long time ago - that our country was finished with all that.
