Help!! I removed the audio drivers, so now I can't hear Cheney
getting booed!! When I was "cleaning up" my programs the other night, I inadvertently removed my audio so now Windows tells me I have no audio system. When I restarted my computer, the computer searched for it, and asked me to put in a disk if I had one. I tried a few disks I had, but to no avail. Do any of you computer wizards know where I can get audio drivers from Dell for Dell Speakers, Model A215?? Any help would be greatly appreciated with virtual chocolate chip cookies!!

Thanks for helping one who is somewhat technologically challenged.

1. What model is your computer?
I will then go look, find and post a link to the proper drivers.

7. My computer is a Dell, I got it last year
and I can't see the model # but it has Windows Profession XP on it, and it is about 1 1/2 years old. Does that help???

Thank you so much!!

2. You don't get drivers for your speakers, you need them for
your audio card (or built-in audio). Go to Dell support and enter your system tag from your PC and request drivers and downloads.

3. Try System Restore, and if that fails go to
Start - right click My Computer and go to properties -- then to Sound and see what drivers are missing -- then click update driver and your PC should find it if still on your HD. Good luck.

4. you need to find out what sound card or on-board hardware...
...your computer has installed. Try Start/Settings/Control Panel/Hardware and then click on the hardware tab. Click on Device Manager. In the Device Manager, click on "Sound, video, and game controllers." There ought to be an entry for your sound device, but you might not recognize it. For example, the computer I'm on has a "Creative SB Audigy" sound card listed. Googling "Audigy sound card driver Windows XP" finds a bunch of places to download drivers for the Sound Blaster card.

15. you're right except
that all she has to do is delete the sound card and reboot.
Windows will re-install it on re-boot!
Or she could run the RECOVERY CD...do a PARTIAL RECOVERY...not a full!

Or if all else fails?
Run "System Restore"!

Who said "Call Dell"?????
Whomever it was is funny!!!

5. You're going to need a new computer.
;)

Post #3 will probably work. Windows has plenty of generic drivers that will run your sound card. They also may have the actual drivers from the manufacturer of your sound card.

If that doesn't work, try post #4 and look for the "audio processor." That's probably your sound card.

14. You should have a disk
from Dell that came with your computer that has drivers and utilities on it they are on there. A system restore should work as well as I deal with this at work everyday people needing drivers reloaded because they deleted them or had the computer wiped clean.
