Sorry about the intrusion here folks, but I just could not stand to see the term 'pro-life' associated with a group that thinks back alleys are fine...as long as it's for the poor, not THEIR daughters...you understand. I was going to include the term 'first thing in the morning' (i.e., before my first cup of coffee) but ddecided that I don't think that I could stand to see that at ANY time during the day). Just call me 'uppity' or something.

Here is the link to the thread for good measure:

1. Why are you posting this
again? Wasn't it ugly enough the first time around? Do you believe there should be a political litms test for immigrants to this country?

7. Yes, and it didn't make a whole
hell of a lot of sense. It was poorly written and confusing.

11. Really? Poorly written and confusing but you understood enough to
Edited on Wed Apr-12-06 07:48 AM by hholli11
be offended? Help me understand you since your first response to this is not about anti-choice or pro-life but about immigrants.

So it seems you didn't understand at all and rather than ask for clarification (after all, I am* confusing) you begin in on immigration. It is why I asked if you had read my post. You seem intent on allienating someone who would (otherwise) agree with you. This is how us 'middle of the roaders' stay uninvolved.

2. Would it have been too much to ask
for you to post this topic as a reply to the thread you are obviously replying to?

4. It would not have been too much to ask...
but no one did ask, and I guess people are welcome to move it if they see fit. I wasn't trying to offend anybody. I was trying not to be offended myself.

I was NOT...NOT in any way endorsing any particular position on the immigration issue. I was TAKING a position with implying that the anti-choice brigade is NOT a pro-life brigade at all. I thought I stated that part clearly. If they're called 'pro-life' on our siide of the fence, the folks in the middle of the road will think it's true. (that 'frame the debate' part notwithstanding).

3. I am vehemently pro-choice, but
that doesn't change my opinion that illegal immigrants are human beings and should be treated as such - NOT used as scapegoats by politicians.

5. I think we should give these immigrants amnesty as well...
Edited on Wed Apr-12-06 07:24 AM by hholli11
I don't think we should be referring to the anti-choice junta as 'pro-life'. There is nothing that honors 'life' about those assholes.

(on edit for a typo)

9. I'd be too busy lobbying for their amnesty...
I almost started another thread about this guy calling out "catholics" as well. I'm Catholic. So's Ted Kennedy. I don't think asking how many 'illegal immigrants (I am happy that he put "illegal immigrants" in parentheses as no human being is illegal).

Thank Gawd I hadn't gotten around to it.

10. here's what i really think: that all women need abortion services
and women from all different groups avail themselves of abortion services whether legal or illegal.

i think there is a mix of women in the ''immigrant'' community.

and those who suffer the most from economic hardship know intimately what they need and when they need it.

i WILL not become anti {illegal} immigrant because of religous affliation.

and i think that {illegal} immigrants will know who their friends are and have been for all kinds of reasons.

14. I would say the ones from Latin America about 85-90% are Catholic
most of them at least philisophically are probably anti-abortion.

15. I'm anti-abortion in that
I would rather see them prevented rather than performed.

But these people aren't anti-abortion. These people are anti-CHOICE. The choice to prevent. The choice to provide. They. are. anti. CHOICE.

16. So political litmus tests should now be applied...
And we should help to secure civil rights only for those whose politics agree with our own. Is that what you mean to imply?

17. not at all...I mean not to imply, but to directly state...
that ANTI-CHOICE people are NOT pro-life people. This thread, and my intentions is an easy read so far. I think my position is clear.
