Cafferty was pointing out to Wolfie how that Bush seems to go off
at taxpayers expense and make a speech like every day. Wolf, of course, jumped to Georgie's defense and said that other presidents did exactly the same thing. He said that he had covered Clinton and that sometimes Clinton went to two a day. I don't believe it. I think Bush is using taxpayer money to make way more speeches and be at more "poliltical" events than Clinton. Am I right?

I'm sorry if this has already come up. This was on CNN's The Situation Room yesterday evening. Cafferty did good. Wolf did bad. As usual...... :eyes:

Clinton actually worked a full day every day. No president has ever taken so many vacations or campaigned full time as much as the chimp.

16. Bush broke the record for most vacation time by any president
earlier this year. The previous record holder was Reagan, who had two full terms to use that much vacation, and included time off while he was recouperating from being shot.

2. Who is paying for all those prop backdrops?
Their is a new one every time. "Path to Victory." (Iraq speech)

"Rebuild, Restore & Rebound" (Katrina prop) and so on.

These background are @ least $20,000 a shot.

3. Clinton NEVER Got This Coverage
The strawman on this lame excuse is that until the 1980s, coverage of live news events was a complicated affair that had to fight with games shows and soap operas and sports shows and primetime for 30 minute of coverage on 3 networks. Today we have 3 24/7 networks with tons of time to fill, lots of pots to stir and technology up the wazoo.

FDR sure didn't have all his speeches broadcast nor did JFK...they did this strange thing called a "Press Conference". Even Raygun rarely took to the airwaves unless there was something important...or all we'd see is a snipet from one of his speeches...not the 2 hours of drone-on we get with his assholiness.

Rove and his henchmen purposely use the cable news channels...either trying to dominate and dictate the headlines, or obscure the ones they don't want out there. Those two hours of chimpster keeps two hours worth of critics off the channels...and these days that's a good thing for this regime.

The amount of taxpayer money that has gone on for partisan purposes by this regime blows away anything Clinton ever did. From the specialized "backdrops" for each "event" to the flying, wining and dining for the stenographer pool that rides along and the waste in electrons is bad enough...but, unfortunately, a perk of the job. Some call this the "bully pulpit"...and as some Repugnican said the other day "this dude puts the bully in bully pulpit".

Leslie has to keep appologizing...as long as Karl, Kenny and his other handlers are watching, he's gotta dot all those is and ts.

4. Add to that the paid news stories in this country and Iraq and how many
other countries are our tax dollars being spent for bush regime propaganda.

What was that guy's name Armstrong...Jones??? Just for him it was several hundred thousand dollars.

5. My impression:
re: Speeches: During most of Bushes years in office I'd think he had made far fewer trips for speeches such as these, simply because, since he is such a horrendous speaker, his handlers have tried to minimize the damage he could create. However, lately, he's been doing them non-stop.

OTOH, Bush has more time off than any previous president, so his vacation flights might make up for his lack of speeches,

Clinton did a lot of public speaking, and the witch hunters constantly harped about it, about how he was using the public dollar for personal promotion, specially during the various elections held while he was in office. (And while he was far more popular than they thought he should have been.)

6. Bush doesn't know how to do anything else.
Edited on Wed Apr-12-06 08:44 AM by Bleachers7
All he knows to do is campaign. He is all public relations. He is nothing without TV ads to bolster him and he knows it. That's why he's always on the road.

11. The other ADDITIONAL expense for Shrub is the extreme
amount of security they have to surround him with! THAT'S very expensive, and because he is disliked by so many, EVERYWHERE he goes, the security detail is way more than double what it was in the Clinton years!

21. A recent local story said that it cost Manhattan, Ks
$75,000 for their visit from Bush. However, he was giving a Landon lecture and the same story mentioned that other Landon lecturers have costs too. For example, they paid Paul Harvey $50,000 to give a Landon lecture. Nice work, if you can get it.

19. I love the way Cafferty "glances at Wolf" ...
right after Wolfie says "But ... <fill in your own BushCo kiss ass retraction>.

Kind of like my Dad would look at us kids when we tried to pass a load of crap type excuse so we wouldn't be grounded on the weekend. A look like, "Who do you think you're foolin'" KID! LOL

I fear Cafferty is not going to be on CNN too much longer, but man, I'm enjoying his time while it lasts. :applause:

14. It seems that way to me too. Most pictures you see of Bush, he
is either getting on the helicopter, getting off the plane or speaking in front of a different back drop. When's the last time you saw a picture of him actually working in the Oval Office ?

Do we WANT to see him working in the Oval Office? When he's speaking way out in the boondocks, he isn't fouling up the U.S. or the world. JAT ;-)
