Condisleezy - "'We can't let this continue'"
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice today said it is "time for action" on demands for Iran to stop enriching uranium. Iran says it has enriched enough uranium to operate a nuclear power plant, in defiance of the U.N. Security Council. "When the Security Council reconvenes, I think it will be time for action," Rice said. "We can't let this continue."

4. Methinks the Lady protests too much.
Do I detect desperation? There have been whiffs of it in the air...the WMD's, the Iranian oil bourse, the Emergency funding for $85 million for Democracy in Iran.

They should tell us the real reason for their white-knuckle desperation.

11. Who here doesn't think that Iran is a threat?
Edited on Wed Apr-12-06 01:49 PM by Savannah Progressive
Anyone think that the leaders of Iran are going to suddenly become reasonable, good World Community members?

On this issue, I remember that WE Democrats were complaining about Iran while Bush was hot to trot on invading Iraq. We saw this threat first, we saw it clearly.

Now, because the Bush bandwagon has finally hitched onto this donkey, we don't want to be associated with it?

Iran was a threat three years ago, and is still a threat today. A child with a gun is dangerous, because it's the ignorant holding a dangerous item. Iran with nukes is infinitely more dangerous, because it's the lunatic holding an extremely dangerous item.

On Edit, As even a broken watch is right twice a day, so the Bush Admin finally seeing the threat we warned it about years later is not necessarily a bad thing. A friend once said that even a blind squirrel will find a nut now and again.

13. Iran is no threat to America...
...although they might be a threat to India, Pakistan, and the Middle East. However, they haven't done anything that requires any sabre-rattling on our part, and they're still recovering from that massive earthquake that killed 5,000 Iranians a couple of years ago.

14. Sure Iran is a threat, so are a LOT of Countries!
I think what we're seeing from the Pres of Iran is a fight against our own threatening President! What do you expect when Shrub declares a Country part of the axis of evil, and has already bombed and invaded one of the other two?

This is a fight back agains our own school yard bully!

15. Iran has never been a grave threat to the USA.
A huge proportion of their population is very young and longs for freeddom from the religous leaders. At the same time, they are an ancient, proud and patriotic people who love their country.

16. I can't help but think....
That the news we get about Irans bad intentions is sometihng I myself believe to be somewhat false and planted it's intentions bent on creating a mass paranoia trying to make more of the issue than there really is.. I am not saying I don't believe Iran is a threat either but what I am saying is that it is not past this administration and it's control of the MSM to "project' certain false information with every intention of covering thier ass and saying we told you so when our men are attacked (falsely) so they have a reason (false) to attack Iran.

WERD!!!

17. "The lunatic holding an extremely dangerous item"
Just like here at home.

Any nation or people who think that brandishing weapons and power is a long-term solution is a lunatic.

Time to cover the pool and bunker down.

19. I remember it differently
I'm a recent registration to DU but I have been watching this board for the last 2 or 3 years. I can remember a lot of DUers talking about PNAC and saying Iran is going to be after Iraq.

22. Any threat must be handled by diplomacy.....
Iran's "threat" is NOT worth another illegal war.

It is not worth the death of ONE person.

24. Ms. Rice is full of vile crap, as usual.
“You can’t allow somebody to commit the crime before you detain them, because if they commit the crime, thousands of innocent people die,” Condoleezza Rice
