MSM is after Conyers aggressively now: Congressman accused of using staff
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/04/12/griffin.conyers/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Two former staff members of U.S. Rep. John Conyers Jr., D-Michigan, say the longtime Detroit congressman made them baby-sit his children, run errands and work on political campaigns while they were on his congressional payroll.

Sydney Rooks, whom Conyers hired as a legal adviser in his Detroit office, recalls the lawmaker brought his two young sons into her office several times, saying, "Rooks, they're your responsibility for right now. I'll be back later."

She said later could be a few minutes or an hour. "Later could be frantically calling around trying to find him because it was now 8 or 9 p.m. or later in the evening and not knowing what to do with the children," she said.

.... unbelievable.....

2. That's disgusting and just how the US media operates
Ignore the Big Picture and make personal attacks.

In most of the older countries especially in the east the workplace and home mix so much that often staff does do stuff like that.

3. this is several weeks old
not getting much traction on TV

course, either is Conyers, cause they don't want to publicize the real questions that he's raising, questions that go to the HEART of the vast criminal enterprise at the seat of government

look for this to come up if dems take over in November, and he's chairman of, what, judiciary

that's when the knives will be unsheathed

9. The story I read said he had one staffer live in his house as a nanny
and paid her with taxpayer money that is supposed to go for staff work. That's probably the rub.

10. That's more serious, certainly
Still, that's nothing comparing to what the Repugs have been up to.

6. Of Course they are and the Dems need to organize
a hit squad to counter-attacked these guys and keep people on point with the lies of this administration... The Dems need to come together now and support each other when this happens and I guarantee you, there will be more smears against more Dems before the elections....

No, just CNN.

Notice that this was reported on Paula Zahn, and now on CNN.com.

Looks like these clowns have joined the Vast Right-Wing (Media) Conspiracy.

Conyers works his behind off having to keep up with the corruption & insidious cover-ups by this administration & that's their best retaliation? Conyers has got to be close to a saint. This is pretty lame.

13. Don't let them get...
...away with this. Contact CNN. My e-email:

Positive or Negative??

Positively in favor of Rep. John Conyers! You folks need to back off attacking John Conyers on ethics. Maybe you can't see it, but this is just another 'Swift Boat' style smear campaign designed to destroy his credibility before November Elections. Conyers, as ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee will become Chairman of that committee...with subpoena power, if Democrats retake the House in November. Conyers 'could'...if it's decided upon... be the person to start impeachment of President Bush. This smear of his character is SO TRANSPARENT it's ridiculous. Come ON, CNN!:patriot:

15. I smell swiftboat stench
Those making the accusations need to be looked into...not to attack the messenger but to determine their intent.

If these people were troubled that duties they were being given were unethical, they should have followed the steps to report them to the Ethics Committee. If it was simply pissing them off, they should have first brought their concerns to the attention of Conyers and if they weren't addressed/remedied...then it's time to find other employment.

Coming out over the public airwaves and making "news" in the way they are is clearly a PR hit job.
