Felon Colson: abortion "the root of the" illegal immigration "problem"
http://mediamatters.org/items/200604120014

During the April 11 broadcast of his daily BreakPoint radio commentary, convicted Watergate felon and Prison Fellowship Ministries founder Charles W. Colson claimed that legalized abortion created a labor shortage, forcing the United States to solicit undocumented workers from other countries to fill jobs that might have otherwise been occupied by the "40 million sacrificed since 1973," when the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision legalized abortion.

Colson asked: "But what's the root of the problem? Why do we have a shortage of workers? Aha, that's the unspeakable 'A' word that the elite dread the most: abortion." According to Colson, "The reason we must allow millions of illegal aliens in to fill these jobs is because we have murdered a generation that would otherwise be filling them: 40 million sacrificed since 1973 to the god of self-fulfillment. And Americans are barely maintaining a replacement-level birthrate of 2.1 children per woman."

2. Can someone explain to me how felons like Colson and Liddy
get their own radio shows to rant on?

8. Because they have brain-dead listeners that think they're heroes
Liddy is an example of everything that's wrong in America. But his listeners think he's something to look up to.

4. Let's see if I follow the reasoning here...
women should be denied the right to control their personal health decisions so that we will have a supply of workers who are, as Bush puts it, "willing to do jobs Americans won't do"? Somebody please wake me up when the reign of witches is over.

5. Amazing that the looney right is coming our with their "cheap labor"...
credo. Basically what they want is Americans to provide slave labor for the ultra wealthy to gather more gelt. Which is the Republican core belief, but usually kept under wraps because it is too crass, too un-Christian to be uttered in mixed company.

6. Bullshit, Chuckie..
I have personally been "part" of three abortions and I will goddamned guarantee you that if any of those children had gone to term and been born, they WOULD NOT be doing any of the jobs that our undocumented immigrants are performing.

7. We don't have a labor shortage, we have a wage shortage.
With 37,000,000 Americans living in poverty, some working, I believe that many of those abortions may not have occured if families had the economic means to feed another hungry mouth.

I bet Colson never stood up for an increase of wages.

11. Nice Quote...
And Americans are barely maintaining a replacement-level birthrate of 2.1 children per woman.

In Chuckie's world, women are breeders, men are inseminators, free of all responsibility once "the deed" is done.

Come on "gals", get to work and start breedin'. I'm sure there are some pasty faced, balding, white Republicans who would be more than happy to "hit and run." We need more bodies for our grape fields, 4 star hotel staffs, nanny duties, sweatshops, and ditch digging.

After all, it's so hard to find good help at 2.00 an hour...

12. Oh, I feel so guilty! I only had 2.0 children and then went on that danged
birth control pill. Little did I know I was helping destroy my own country! :sarcasm:

About 30 years ago a friend of mine who had served as a missionary in Mexico for most of his life told me that the Mexican immigration problem (a problem even back then) was never going to be resolved until the Pope allowed Mexican citizens to use birth control. So I'm glad Colson and others have cleared this up for me. The Pope hasn't caused this, it's me--by USING birth control. So sorry I did not bring dozens of potential unskilled low-wage workers into the world to do the jobs now filled by illegal immigrants. Who'd-a thunk it??

man's permission to use birth control, even if he is the Pope? That in a nutshell is why the powers that be hate feminism.

If what Upchuck Colson said was true, we'd have 0% unemployment of American citizens. :eyes:

C'mon, Upchuck, tell the truth -- people like you only care about white fetuses getting aborted.

32. I guess you don't remember Chuck Colson from the first time around.
Edited on Wed Apr-12-06 11:25 PM by impeachdubya
His comments are hardly surprising. He was a right-wing fascist thug and a head goon under Nixon, and after going to jail for his Watergate crimes, he "reformed" (gak!) into a right-wing, theocratic, fascist culture war thug, much beloved by the self-appointed morality police and other control freak types who can't get enough of hectoring other consenting adults about their personal choices and lives...

...because, you know, we all so badly need to be "fixed" by the likes of people like that.

:puke: is right.

20. This amazingly idiotic line of thinking.....
is clearly a right-wing talking point that has been distributed widely. This is the 3rd time I've read or heard it.

Relegating women to the role of factories producing future exploited workers is one of the most offensive ideas ever. I guarantee you many Conservative women will agree.

Outlaw abortion and if there's any excess after the market is satisfied, we can use it as a protein source.

creating a void in the labor force and there weren't enough Americans to take the low paying jobs.

27. If this absurd contention was correct,
it would mean that every time a woman has an abortion, she is allowing another needy person to come to America and find work.

These women should be commended for controlling their fertility in a way that helps spread the wealth of America amongst those who most need and deserve it.

28. Colson tried to get a Moon front to work from inside the White House
Edited on Wed Apr-12-06 10:37 PM by Cell Whitman
Moon helped create fake grass roots support for the Viet Nam war for Nixon. Moon has been helping the Republicans deceive our nation for a long time....

here's an excerpt from:"Moonstruck, A Memoir of My Life in a Cult" copyright 1979 - by Allen Tate Wood - member and leader in the movement's early years in the USA.
http://www.allentwood.com/essays/moonstruck.html?FACTNet

On the Moon front Wood operated, here he is being asked to work with the Nixon administration.
According to Wood, Charles Colson was the bag man for Nixon funding Moon's pro Viet Nam War "grass roots" effort.

"Why don't you boys come inside?" Colson asked, clearly meaning that we should work directly for the White House. We declined.

One day about this time Marshall showed me a cashier’s check for several thousand dollars. "This is from Colson," he said. "It’s not from the President. It's from ‘friends of the president.’ Remember that. Or else our source could quickly dry up."
(pg 97)

Yes, Colson was working with the conservative's savior long before it became fashionable.
