There was a real gem in the gaggle today
Josh Marshall spotted it.

You know how they've been trying to convince us that Bush and Cheney can wave a wand and unilaterally declassify whatever they choose? Today, when explaining about whether Bush knew his 'wmds found!' remark was true, McClellan included this:

"...It's a complex intelligence white paper and it's ... one derived from highly classified information takes a substantial amount of time to coordinate and to run through a declassification process."

Poor guy can't keep 'em straight anymore.

1. There Are Two Kinds Of Classified Material
That which is politically useful, which can be released as necessary, and that which is politically damaging, which is to be secreted away forever if possible.

4. So how long did it take to declassify the October 2002 NIE?
By the way, I read that Cheney can declassify only information for which he requested classification, in the first place. Has anyone else read the same thing, or am I mistaken? I don't remember where I saw it but it was just a few days ago.

6. It's a complex intelligence .........
"...It's a complex intelligence white paper and it's ... one derived from highly classified information takes a substantial amount of time to coordinate and to run through a declassification process."

Now the declassification of Brewster Jennings and a NOC agent, takes no time at all...just a nod from Veep or Pres?

Scotty, How many ways is there to declassify highly classified information?
