Question about Flight 93 on 9/11. . .
I'm sure someone has an answer for this, but I'm puzzled. . .it seems to me, after listening to the coverage of the Flight 93 tape (the United flight that crashed in Pennsylvania on 9/11 when the passengers were fighting back against the hijackers) that there was at least 30 minutes between the phone call reports, the communication to Cleveland airport and the crash of the flight. The plane had turned around, gone back against flight pattern and was over Pennsylvania. Where was our air defense? Did we not have ANY fighters, any military craft capable of scrambling in our own country on short notice to have intercepted the plane? Was even an attempt made to do so? I know that it would have possibly caused the hijackers to just blow up the plane, but isn't it interesting that they didn't blow it up even with the bomb attached to that man onboard? And instead the plane crashed?

I know we've supposedly made changes to our country's air defense system since 9/11, but how capable are we REALLY to protect our citizens and our skies, especially outside of New York and Washington?

1. There were planes in the air and they were preparing,if necessary,to shoot
it down. Fortunately for the pilots they didn't have to.

2. This scenario couldn't have been imagined.
Planes had never been hijacked before.
The military is underfunded.
Cut ChimpCo some slack.

3. actually that's a good question............
...one that many people have asked! They had military planes that could have found those planes. There is radar, air traffic controllers...........people knew what was happening because they could track the planes through radar. Even though they couldn't speak to anyone on the planes, they could tell that something very wrong was happening!

I still wonder if UA93 wasn't shot down instead of being brought down by the passengers as we have been told. Either way, the people on that plane were still heroes!

5. Missiles again????
I still wonder if UA93 wasn't shot down instead of being brought down by the passengers as we have been told.

There is absolutely zero evidence that it was shot down. The investigators (civilian, by the way) on the scene that day would have reported that fact quickly. In the media frenzy of 9/11 there's no way that that could be kept secret.

I think we're gonna just have to admit that those heroes on UA 93 willingly layed down their own lives down so others could live. We'll likely never know where that plane was headed. Some say the Capitol Bldg. Others speculate the White House. Any way you cut it, the unselfish act of the UA 93 passengers should not be diminished by ridiculous tin foil hat stuff.

Please let them have the accolades they richly deserve.

6. 100% chance it was shot down
Doesn't mean there weren't heroes on the plane, it just means they got blown up along with everyone else.

15. Your evidence please?
You don't have any.

The civilian inspectors on the ground that day would have seen evidence of a shoot-down immediately. Such a thing would have been reported by the media. The characteristics of such an event are obvious to the trained eye of the crash inspectors.

You have no credible evidence for such a claim. It's just more tin foil hat rubbish.

7. Another delusional MIHOP cognitive dissonance.
They simultaneously hold that US air defenses were intentionally inactive on 9/11 and that flight 93 was shot down by military aircraft. Well, those of them who don't claim that there wasn't ever a flight 93 anyway.

14. No cognitive dissonance involved
Flight 93 took off 40 minutes late. Whatever it's target was, it was running way behind the others. There still could have been efforts to slow down our air defenses and an order to shoot down 93 once the window of plausible deni-ability was closing.

I'm not saying I believe it was shot down, just that it is not inconsistent with any efforts that may have been in place to slow down the initial response.

16. You hit the nail on the head.
The tin foil hat crowd change their claims to suit each individual event. For the WTC they claim that there was a stand-down. For UA 93 they claim there was a missile shoot-down (a stand-up, as it were). It's all made-up stuff, none of which has any evidence, let alone even a modicum of logic behind it.

17. I never heard anyone say anything about missiles........
I'm not saying that it was shot down, I'm just saying..........after everything we've seen from the Bush crowd in the last 5 or 6 yrs, it would not surprise me to hear it had been shot down.

Although, after seeing the coverage on Olbermann last night about the testimony in court, I do believe that the passengers brought it down as we have been told.

And certainly the passengers on that plane were truly heroes! I have a great deal of respect for all of the passengers and crew on that plane and I never meant to suggest otherwise.

There was a book I read about the crew and passengers on Flight UA93. I can't remember the name of it or the author but it was a great book! If I remember the name or the author, I'll let you guys know. The author made a point of saying that he thought the hijackers never anticipated that they would be on a plane with this bunch of over achievers who refused to allow them to do what they planned to do.

18. book about UA93
I finally remembered the name of that book! It's called Among the Heroes by Jere Longman.

It's a great book if anyone is interested. It allows the reader to know these people in a more personal way..........

Here's a description of it.............

From Library Journal
New York Times reporter Longman, who covered the story of Flight 93, helps us relive the heroism and the terror of its final moments.
Copyright 2002 Reed Business Information, Inc.

From Booklist
The 9/11 flight that crashed in Pennsylvania, presumably on its way to devastate either the White House or the Capitol, is the subject of a riveting account by Longman, a reporter for the New York Times. In his words, the passengers of United Flight 93 "thwarted" the terrorists; it is clear to him that the "passengers and crew acted with heroic defiance." Longman spoke with all the affected families except one. His account of the "brave uprising will surely be remembered as a defining moment in American history" gives us an incredibly detailed and personal tale of that horrific episode, during which ordinary citizens proved their mettle and altered their fate. 4. What happened to the president
If the timeline is correct and the idiot in chief was notified before he left the hotel or while was leaving that an airplane had struck the WTC why the hell did he not start acting like a president. Most people do not realize that if he had taken a lead and done his job that there might have been a 3 or 4th airlplane that crashed. The flight attendant on the first flight, American flt 11 called in 20 min before crashing and the security people for AAL and the FAA knew what was happening. No way they did not convey that message to the Bush team. So was it Card that was criminally negligent? Did asshole know already? But think about the order that went out when all the aircraft were required to land. Same type of command could have gone out to all aircraft about locking down the cockpit.

If they had done this after the first aircraft struck, they could not have saved the 2nd plane but it would have gone out before the hijackers had gotten into the cockpit of the 3rd and 4th aircraft. This needs to be explored and brought to the attention of the media

When has he EVER acted like a president? The man can't tie his own shoelaces without a note signed by Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, and God.

12. Oh yes,
I'm sure the 9/11 scholars for 9/11 truth regarding 9/11 have picked it apart. I've read enough of the MIHOP hive mind's "debunking" of the debunking to see it for the crackpottery it is.
