A dispatch from Crawford, from proud2Blib.
She's unable to post on DU, but can somehow send email. Here's what she wrote:

This is the most awesome place. We had a terrific day. There are very few people here yet. So we got to spend a lot of time talking to Cindy. She autographed my signs for me! The program at Camp Casey tonight was wonderful. There was a kid who just got back from Iraq who spoke and he was awesome.

Tomorrow is the official beginning of the Easter celebration here and they expect several thousand people. They are showing the movie V for Vendetta tomorrow night.

(Mys on) and I helped cook dinner. The food is terrific. And free.

I met a guy today who I knew through our email group and turns out he was best friends with Townes VanZant! He also knows Lyle Lovett and John Prine. He was fun to talk to.

I tried to log on to DU and it didn't work. I am at the computer in the lobby of our motel. For some reason, it won't let me log on to DU. But I can get my email. Hope I didn't get kicked off of DU - LOL.

Wish you and (kiteinthewind) and all those other brave souls who protest weekly in KC could come down here. It is a wonderful place. Some old man pulled up to The Peace House today with a Peace Train. He had made it himself and is giving everyone rides. It is just like the old kiddy train at the zoo. He pulls it with a little tractor. And he has peace sayings written all over it. The guy has got to be 90 years old.

See you in a few days!

1. Thank you evlbstrd.
I am glad she made it and is having a good time. What a wonderful place that is, The Crawford Peace House is full of the best people! I really wish I could have gone back with her.

I love the Peace Train idea, really cool.

Now I've been crying lately, thinking about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating, why can't we live in bliss

Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again

Ahh Crawford Peace House, a lot of heaven there.

:hi: Anne, you have a great time and enjoy the movie, it will knock your socks off.

8. Me too, I just can't get away now.
Hey! When are we going to both be at the same meetup? You are now my half brother or something since Mabus adopted me too and I have never met you. Just does not seem right.

Maybe the next thing we can go to and call up Proud and have her report on us.

12. That's right.
I think the meetups night is going to change so that more people can make it. And there's a rumor of a bonfire this month.

17. I'm going to catch that
but it will be late, I will be in a meeting in KC then will pop on over with the hopes of getting a chance to talk GLBT issues with Nancy Boyda. She has changed her positions but there are some real trust issues.

9. It begins (again)
Thanks for this...the image of the 90 year old man pulling a peace train with a little tractor just made my day! It should be interesting to see how it all goes down this time around. Of course, it will be less press the second time, but the country is so different from last summer. George in particular is just doing horribly! I hope he finally decides to talk with Cindy...it couldn't hurt his numbers at this point!

11. Unless he sneaks in
He is not talking to anyone in crawford. The coward of the country is scared of Cindy, so he's not going to tejas for easter. These people are sneaks though, everywhere they go it's unannounced and in secret, sneak, sneak, sneak.

I wonder if the motel has put a block on liberal websites?

10. Thank you, and all who keep those of us who can't go, updated.
I appreciate so much knowing everything that happens and seeing the pictures that have been posted.

Give Cindy an extra big hug from all of us who love and support her.
My 73 year old Mother told me yesterday, she would like to talk to Cindy if she could.

(My youngest brother died 30 years ago. He was 10.)

"It always hurts and the loss is always there, but it gets a little easier with time. Also, to take care of herself."

My Mother is ill and probably won't be here much longer. She knows this and wants Cindy to know, there are many other "Moms" who understand the pain & loss.

14. The folks at the Crawford Peace House...
are a great bunch of people. And actually the locals were nice to us, esp the guy that owns the property next to Dubya, the one that let us use his property to stage Camp Casey 2. I left Crawford in a really positive state of mind last year. There was some really powerful energy there. Funny thing, Dubya fled from Cindy and fled from Katrina right after that. I think those 2 weeks were the begining of the end for Bush.
