Excuse me, but this whole John Conyers thing stinks really bad!
Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 01:20 PM by carolinalady
I'm watching CNN and they are doing an "expose" on Conyers utilizing an aide to babysit his children. What gets me that one of those people was a lawyer for God's sake! If it was true, what kind of lawyer would put up with that? Surely she would know how to get it stopped. The fix is in.

4. The Democrats need to form a quick response
team to defend others against these attacks in the media.. Someone needs to come out now and beat down these charges, and they need to stick together... This is not the first swift-boat in the ocean and it sure as hell won't be the last....

17. It would be best if it came from Conyers (esp if this has been going on
for 2-3 weeks). They do not like being ignored.

10. I can't believe they're still running that story...
In Conyer's district in Detroit, the story surfaced in the media for a few days, then quickly disappeared when they realized it had no legs. Something tells me Sith Lord Rove has been busy.

15. It's fairly obvious...
Repubs are looking 6 to 8 months down the road. If they lose the House, John Conyers will be in charge of the impeachment hearings against George W Bush. Start tearing him down now so he will not be the leader of the Committee or he will otherwise be unable to investigate the Bush Administration.

Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 01:24 PM by CottonBear
I was shocked. This seems to have come out of the blue.

My take: The GOP knows that the Democrats will retake the congress in 2006 and they don't want Mr. Conyers to be chair of the judiciary committee. They remember that both he and Mr. Rangel were involved in the Watergate hearings.

edit: Oops! kentuck beat me to it!

37. That's another story altogether.
You'd have to ask CNN that one, because the reports were filed 2 years ago. I don't know why CNN decides this is a story now.

26. Why should they stop going after our reps?
DU has already proven that Democrats are almost completely unwilling to stand up for their representatives when under attack from the right...

They won't stop until WE make them stop - and that means defending our representatives against smear attacks.
