Safe and Sound in Sebastopol CA...
Well, I am finally here, from Cincinnati, OH. (actually, I have been here a week, but am only now able to post from the library). It is absolutely the most beautiful terrain I have ever seen, and I am quite proud to call this my new home. Now I need to find a job, and learn how to cope with copious amounts of rain. It is actually sunny today, but I am certain that the rain will strike again soon. I missed you folks here, while driving cross country, and there has been so much that has happened with the BFEE, though I am sorry that the Feingold move to censure the chief idiot seems to be going nowhere. In any event, I am here and well (did not think I was going to survive Texas, my Kerry and DU stickers generated quite a few angry looks, no offense to the good Texans), and I am glad to be back with my DUers. I missed this band of True Americans!

And in most years it would have stopped a month ago. Hang in there.

on edit: Sebastopol area is very pretty.

5. Hey, neighbor!
:hi:

Welcome to NoCal. I'm in the Napa Valley.

And yes, we are due for more rain. I can tell you we are heartily sick of it. Sebastopol is a beautiful area. Enjoy.

Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 05:19 PM by Sequoia
I moved to Sebastopol 4 years ago from (boo-hoo) SUNNY Santa Monica. But now I live nearby in another area by the Russian River which you should see. Sebastopol is very lovely and the Apple Blossom Fair is coming up on April 29 & 30 so you'll have to check it out. We came in March and it was our first fair (of many here). Good luck on the job front (what sort?) though, it's pretty bleak. What made you move here anyway? We'll be having lots of Earthquake going ons on the 18th in Santa Rosa which was destroyed in 1906. If you're young and hip Jasper O'Farrels is popular in Sebastopol.

So welcome and good luck.

10. Welcome to California slor!
I used to spend my summers in Sebastapol. I am inland and would love to live there. You are so close to everything. Ocean, rivers, cities, wine country, apple orchards. Wow, I am envious! But happy for you.

I am fairly close, but Sebastopol is just fantastic, isn't it?!?! Love the parts with the open space especially. Are you near town, or?

So lucky!

Welcome!!

:-)You sent me running to the maps. I remember Sebastapol now and it's still very nice. My DH and I have been all over California and some of my memories seemed to have melded together.

13. Welcome To California !!!
Check in with the California Forum. We just had a DU Gathering in Sacramento, and are threatening to meet up again in the Bay Area! Golden Gate Park and\or the beach.

Plus we usually get together for any protest marches comin down the pike.

Glad you're here. Enjoy Sonoma County, lots of cool places as I recall from my two year stint there.

18. Put the Sonoma Cheese Factory
on your to-do list of places to visit.

I'm from SF and now live on the southern Oregon coast. It was easier to deal w/the rainy season, because they are pretty much the same.

The rainy season ends soon and you will be able to enjoy the gorgeous weather until November (or there abouts).

Enjoy the sun. We have more rain on the way, unfortunately. Those of us with gardens are teetering into rain-induced depression these days. ;-)

Yes, you must check out Armstrong Woods in Gureneville, all those towering redwoods but be sure to drive to the top too for a most amazing view!

31. There's magic to be found in Sebastopol....
Check out the Johnny Otis Market, and with a bit of luck you might meet the man. Johnny Otis is national treasure in my mind - music, food, culture, activism - all wrapped into one neat package. He's a living, breathing, 85-year-young dynamo with a genuine soul and a heart to match. Catch his Saturday morning radio program on KPFA, too.
