3. Ed Schultz isn't helping Conyers any
I get Air America until 2:00 on New Orleans radio and then they switch to Ed Schultz. He is raggin on Conyers pretty bad. I think he just wants to be on record.

9. sometimes it's hard to tell with Ed
but I am disappointed in Conyers. Wish he hadn't done that. It's just a little rude to ask your paid employees to perform personal tasks for you. However, it's no secret that folks who work in public interest areas are often treated like volunteers. It's just a part of the culture. People who go there should not be surprised that "we're all in this together" gets a little stretched sometimes.

That being said, I would babysit for John Conyers kids too!

12. Which disappoints you more?
The many lies of this administration that have lead to countless deaths of Americans, Afghanis, and Iraqis?

Or a Congressman asking an employee to babysit while he attends a function?

And why does CNN waste its time picking apart Conyers' ethics, when many more Republicans have a longer list of ethics violations?

This stinks to high hell.

27. duh
you are right, of course--and welcome to DU!

:hi:

The media is making an ass out of itself with this attempt to go tit for tat with the Pukkkes on corruption.Talk about putting your thumb on the scale to make Dems look bad too!

Nevertheless we all need to clean up our acts to the extent they are dirty, if we are making public statements about justice. We can't afford to gove them an opening.

31. They are digging up dirt on Conyers because he will likely be the chair of
the judicial committee when the Democrats become the majority again and he will be able to subpoena these bastards asses.

14. I think, from the little I know about this,
that the aides could have just told him no. It isn't like he did not know it was too much to ask. I have a difficult time believing that he would force the issue.

It seems common for people in his position to always ask for a little more. I am not saying it is right but shouldn't some of the responsibility be theirs for not just saying no? Normally I would not feel this way except that just now they are complaining about it.

OK, I should shut up since I am really not up on the story and hate to see Conyers being trashed. I am too prejudiced without knowing the details.

Thanks for letting me know.

29. Yes indeed--if you allow yourself to be a doomat, then you bear
some of the blame. And employees need to make clear what the boundaries are, especially in a friendly workplace.

6. I don't like Ed Shultz at all.
Can you get WCKY 1530 AM from Cinncinati after dark? I can get it here in Athens. They rerun Randi during the evening because they broadcast Ed during her live time slot. (It's not an AAR station but does have some AAR shows.)

Springer and Franken but Schultz is a little tough to listen to. The New Orleans station only airs the first two hours of his show. The last hour is given to a New Orleans cooking and restaurant review show; a very good review show.

22. Springer is OK sometimes.
I suppose that AAR is appealing to his TV show audience or to middle America with the Springer show.

The cooking show sounds wonderful! :) :hi:

I've kind of sensed it since I first heard him.He seems like a guy who saw an "in" using his Limbaugh voice for a growing market and made a move.A move <--------left

She was on Larry King with him but I don't think she spoke directly to him.

19. She's talked a few times about
How he once called her a "slut".

Randi and Malloy have repeatedly said that Shultz is only playing a liberal because he realizes that the market is growing and only sees $$$$$. He's a fake and only looking out for his own career.

23. I heard him say that on the air.
I couldn't believe it. Between that and receiving a hateful reply to an email I sent to him about F-9/11 I chose to turn him off for good. I've streamed my beloved Randi ever since.

26. I can't recall the exact context, but he said her name, then
whispered "slut" in that under you breath, but completely audible by design voice. I believe that it was about time slots for their shows because they compete for the same time slot, but I'm just not sure. I just recall my jaw dropping when i heard it.

20. Me too. Mike and Randi are my favorite AAR hosts.
I've met Mike and his lovely wife, Kathy. He minces no words. I think it's great when he hosts for Randi. The daytime crowd gets a huge dose of truth!

Sam Seder is my second favorite host. He's great when he hosts solo for Randi.
I adore JFK Jr. but I rarely have a chance to lsiten to his show. Laura Flanders is excellent as well.

16. She's now reading a statement by West Point cadets basically saying
that Bush and his junta are scumbags--liars and thieves responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent people. "We will not serve the lies." Amazing statement.

Randi (after mentioning the many retired generals who have recently spoken out, saying pretty much the same thing): "Are things so bad that a military coup looks like the GOOD news???"

Har-har, Randi!

Go, Cadets!!!!

24. A Militiary Coup?

Are things so bad that a military coup looks like the GOOD news?

It can be argued that a military coup would not be a legitimate government.

On the other hand, how would that make it different from the Bush junta?

30. That was absolutely awesome.
If I can find a copy to download, I'm tempted to spread copies around town on cars with flags and Bush/Cheney bumper stickers.

I'm passing out brochures this weekend at our farmer's market on Saturday for our Congressional candidate. I could pass this out too.

17. Aren't these old allegations, from employees that left his office
several years ago?

I'd say Opposition Research is digging up stuff on Dems as fast as they can.

Having said that, having personal errands or favors done by taxpayer-paid employees is a big no-no, and I'm pretty sure it's on the first page of any Officeholders' Ethics Manual.

That's the case that Ronnie Earle brought against Kaye Bailey Hutchison back in the early nineties.

She was guilty as hell and only got off because DeGuerin went judge-shopping and got the computer tape Earle had as evidence thrown out of the case.

Earle had to drop the case because his evidence wasn't allowed.

Every one of our guys need to understand that they have to be squeaky-clean and have to bend over backwards to avoid all appearance of immpropriety.

It won't matter that Conyers may not be guilty, or the West Virginia Congressman either. The Republican tactic is to muddle things up so much that everybody except us political junkies throws up their hands and says, "Oh, I don't know what to think. They're all crooks anyway!"

Having the public thinking that is all the Rethugs need to mitigate the scandals that we hope will bring them down.

they are out to bury our heroes any way they can. They haven't found crap yet. Let's hope they never do, or it's over. The way CNN covered it, they made it look like a HUGE problem. And Conyers didn't have a good answer for them reporter who finally caught up with him and shoved a camera in his face. We should be more prepared.
