Delta mechanics were told to take their tool boxes home by tomorrow.
I just talked to my son. The deadline for the Pilot negotiations is Sunday midnight. The pilots were told by the union to take all their personal belongings out of their locker when they got back to their home base a few days ago, and today, Delta told the mechanics to take their toolboxes home before they leave work tomorrow. Nobody knows what is going to happen, but if things go like they did at two other airlines that shut down, the company locked the dorrs and the employees couldn't get their stuff for 1 to 2 months.

Delta says if the pilots decide to strike, they'll shut the doors!

Say a couple of prayers, ross your fingers, or whatever you do, for my son, his family, and every other Delta employee in the Company.

3. The possible strike, coupled with the gas prices, don't bode well
for any airline. I hope cooler heads prevail at Delta. Best to your son.

6. thanks. I can only hope both side recognize what they have to loose.
The pilots cannot go to another airline for a job becasue nobody is hiring! The execs at Delta will loose ALL those bonuses and big salaries! Sure, some will get hired by other companies, but MOST won't!

I was in purchasing for a large company for several years, and attended a seminar on negotating. It really boils down to who's going to give a little first. If neither one will give at all, you both loose!

4. Oh, that is rough..
I ate that kind of crap. The paycheck guys get screwed every time.

This is really going to hurt, locally (SFO).

I wish the best and good luck for your son and his family.
Maybe something will give.
