What is wrong with commercials these days??!!
When I was a very young teen, there was outrage on the news that Phil Donahue showed an example of a tastefully done condom commercial. A guy and a gal ran down the beach holding hands. There was pandemonium!

I won't gripe about today's commercials for tampons, pads, etc. They're probably a good thing and I'm just too old to feel comfortable about those things.

But what the hell is this crap about "did you know diabetes might cause erectile dysfunction?" "High blood pressure might cause ED!" "Death might cause ED!"

Is pointing at "limp noodle" the only way to make men pay attention to their health??!!

Jesus, killing your t.v. makes sense.

3. It seems to me that commercials are pushing fear at you at every angle. I
try real hard not to even listen to them.

8. Commercials have ALWAYS pushed fear...
fear that your floors aren't clean enough, and of course that means you don't love your family enough...

fear that you will smell unpleasant if you don't use Product X...

fear that you aren't quite a man if you don't drive this vehicle...

fear that you are a misfit if you don't consume. "Everybody else is doing it!"...

on and on and on...

Advertising is predicated upon exploiting real and manufactured fears.
And that is why I DESPISE its practitioners.

4. contempt for humanity.....
the corporation machinery that forms ads and so on despise the commons....like it's an urban legend spread years ago by pigmedia that 9 months after the 1965 eastcoast power blackout a baby boom happened, as if people had nothing else to do except make babies -in fact, the number of births actually fell according to later studies (notice the pig never tried same thing after the aug/03 power outage; such baldfaced lies would be exposed now, so cynical have people become about media)...the people need a trustworthy media. or else we get a reagan/bush, which the viagra pushers are also symptomatic of

5. None of the commercials...
...ever asks the wives of these guys if they really want to have sex with these fat, stressed out, diabetic, cholesterol-choked wrecks

He: Hey honey! Great news! I got this new drug and Mr. Porky is back in action! C'mere to me you lucky lucky girl!

Her: {thinks} I'll give him extra cheese on his pizza tonight. That'll finish him.

6. Funny you mention this...
I was just ranting to my husband a while ago that I really see no need to be reminded of a man's "weak stream" or "need to go." This is just sick. Big Pharma is as awful as Big Oil.

9. While I don't believe that the commercials regarding ED are
trying to do anything more than sell their own particular drug, it must be noted that sometimes ED is the only early symptom that something is seriously wrong. Unfortunately, the symptom is often treated while the underlying cause is ignored.

My favorite one thus far is "restless leg syndrome."
