Did anyone else see Katy Couric defend her precious george this morning?
She was interviewing Hugh Grant whose new movie American Dream is opening. The movie spoofs American Idol and also spoofs bush. Katy asked Grant, did he think it was fair or appropriate (forget which word she used, maybe both) to make fun of bush? Hugh replied that he thought it was a great idea. She tried asking it again and got the same answer. He made her look like an idiot.
In light of this, it is hard for me to imagine this twit sitting in the CBS anchor chair where she will be expected to report the news in a non biased way.

Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 08:21 AM by Notoverit
She doesn't have to actually believe it - just gets paid - well - for it.

reminds me of one of my mail signatures

NEW YORK - CBS News has shelved a "60 Minutes" report on the rationale for war in Iraq because it would be "inappropriate" to air it so close to the presidential election, the network said on Saturday.

And being a White House mouthpiece is one of them. Today's 'journalists' have sold out their integrity for a six figure salary. Shame on them.

Sometimes I wonder why we complain about such things when there are more important issues to deal with and if we don't wake up, then we will have the republ for many years. Coming together and working on issues that matter will make a difference!

67. The propaganda apparatus of the corporate media
is hardly a small problem. Corporate ownership of the airwaves is a major problem.

GE/NBC is particularly egregious with their pro-republican agenda.

Now that the corporate whore-in-chief has been exposed as a traitor, the corporate media is rushing in to defend him.

Amazing how they obsessed over Clinton's sex life, but don't want to ask questions like "why we went to war?" or "why is gas $3.00 a gallon?"

5. Michael Moore said, during the RNC, that someone
at the Today Show gets suggested questions faxed over from Cheney's office when anyone even tangental to politics is going to be on. He also said that Today Show staffers told him that they get some post-show critiques if they don't tow the party line.

Moore strongly implied that the person was either Lauer or Couric. he gave them 3 days to come forward and admit this was happening. Said he would reveal their name if THEY didn't but he didn't follow through.

24. Hey newstrollop, is it "fair and appropriate"
to give tax breaks to people that don't deserve it (like yourself, for instance)??

Is it "fair and appropriate" to kill 2500 Americans and multiple thousands of innocent Iraqis for the US's oilfest destiny?

Is it "fair and appropriate" to continually and unabashedly lie to the American people about where their tax dollars disappear to, the condition of the war they're being wasted in and the integrity of our elected officials?

Is it "fair and appropriate" for deidicated and educated men and women to lose their jobs simply because they're not cheap enough and CEOs need more and more cash?

Is it "fair and appropriate" for the corporations you shill for and your presidunce enables to control "the message" hand-over-fist using their media conglomerates and for those who oppose these assholes to be met with venom when brought on their shows for not lock-stepping to the fascists?

The answer to your question is YES . . . it's a Constitutional RIGHT to criticize this fucktard and the rest of his band of idiots. We still live in a nation with RIGHTS. Here's an idea - how's about this president for once in his life, do something that will EARN the respect of the people? Hows about him doing something that, God forbid, actually HELPS the American people? Maybe then, your beautiful ears and colon wouldn't have to listen to all of the disrespect being heaped upon your pimp.

35. I always ask Repugs to name one thing Bush has done for the average
American since he took office.

They immediately mention the tax cuts, which I'm quick to respond that with the increase in fuel costs alone, those tax cuts have been more than wiped out. Then I remind them the wealthy people got a bigger tax cut than they did.

One person said they were glad that he increased the budget for the military, because they were tired of having to take their own toilet paper to use when Clinton was President. (They are in the reserves.)

Of course, we know why the military budget was increased: it was to help Bush's buds who do business with the military, it wasn't out of any consideration for the troops.

Other than that, no one can think of anything. Why would ANYONE think this man has been a good President? Or a capable one. Or one that did nothing while in office, but caused no great harm.

This is a great question to ask Repugs that still support Bush. They realize they really have to justify their answer.

42. First of all she should not have brought it up. The movie is a spoof
of many things and a comedy, not a serious and deep critique of the president and his policies. She really appeared to jump the shark with that silly comment. And she only reasked the question to Hugh in a but, but, but sort of way, trying to make him see her side of the silly non-argument. However he didn't take the bait and she finally had to drop it.

Walter Cronkite must be wrapping the anchor chain of his boat around his neck about now. To go from him to Katie Couric insults the intelligence of the viewing audience. Katie may be fine for a 'happy news hour' but she has not one ounce of gravitas to her name.

unf*ckingbelievable!

The Nanny Diaries: Katie Couric Edition

Katie Couric’s deal at CBS may have her making $60,000 per day, but that doesn’t mean she can throw her money around — she’s got two daughters and hundreds of stilletos to provide for. Couric has no choice but to keep a strict budget, as a reader working with an uptown nanny farm learns:

Katie Couric is registered with our agency, and I recently interviewed in her home for a position as a weekend nanny. I got the job, and was all set to begin later this month. Then I get a call yesterday, from her assistant, telling me that there’s been a slight miscommunication and Katie actually doesn’t want to pay me as much as she’d originally promised. She said that she “hoped this would be all right”. I thought this was hilarious, considering how Katie’s big new salary has been splashed alllll over the news just this week. Also, the little wage dispute was over the amount of — and this is ridiculous — $50!!! I mean, COME ON, right? Fifty bucks. Like she was a little short on cash this month?

68. Hey Katie
Was this "over the top"?

Republican convention delegates mocking John Kerry's Purple Heart with band aids?

71. I already decided that watching CBS News was out when they hired her. . .
I've seen enough of her rightwing bias on the Today Show. The media will continue to see its viewing numbers evaporate . . .I no longer trust them for information.
