EDIT TO ADD QUICK LINK TO ACTION:
http://action.truemajority.org/campaign/dontbombiran I'm sending this because I think you're probably as alarmed as I am about these news reports that the administration is willing to seriously consider bombing Iran -- possibly with nuclear weapons -- while once again cranking up the fear machine. I signed on to this TrueMajority petition insisting that this time, the Democrats speak out now, before the public is stampeded into another Middle East mistake.
See what you think:
You’d certainly think Democrats in Congress would know better than to be manipulated into supporting an unnecessary war—again.
But don’t count on it. Citizens are reacting in alarm while the administration considers bombing yet another Middle Eastern country against the advice of military leaders,1 but the Democrats have been almost silent.
Democratic leaders should stand up, pound their podiums and loudly denounce the Bush Administration’s ideas about bombing Iran.
Click here to send a message to top Democrats, including Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, insisting they speak out loudly, now, against any plans to bomb Iran.
http://action.truemajority.org/campaign/dontbombiran It’s certainly clear that any rush to Iran is senseless, just as the bombing of Iraq was.
Yes, the acquisition of nuclear weapons by any nation, and especially one which expresses hostility to our own, is a problem to be taken seriously.
But the administration's own National Intelligence Estimate says it would take a decade before it could possibly happen.2 We now know that international inspections actually succeeded in stopping Iraq's nuclear weapons program,3 while experts on all sides of the political spectrum see nothing but another disaster if we attack Iran.4
So this time, let's learn from history. Our nation must honorably engage Iran, gather the best intelligence possible, and make rational decisions.
And our leaders must make that point loud and clear, now, before the nation is frightened into another mistake.
With hope for lessons learned,

Here’s the message we’ll send Democratic Leaders:
Dear Democratic Leader,
While it’s true that some Democrats opposed the Iraq war, too many simply collapsed as the President mounted his campaign to preemptively invade the country.
I’m sure you agree that this should never happen again.
And now you’ve got a chance to prove it.
Please, round up all Democrats to stand together and denounce President Bush’s alleged plans to bomb Iraq.
Diplomacy is the right response to the Iran situation, not more bombing. The country is years away from producing nuclear bombs.
Please, use all the influence you’ve got to convince Democrats to find sufficient backbone to withstand any and all pressure from the President or anyone else to go to war with Iran.
