The person they have talking about the Good Friday services just mentioned the "Mass in Rome today." There was no mass in Rome or anywhere in the world today.

This is the person who has done a special on John Paul II and I guess covers religion for them, you would think if she is going to cover the church she would learn a little bit about one of the most holy days in the church.

1. The Media have a hard time covering religion
They don't really know what to do with it, I don't think.

2. Newsflash!
The vast majority of the media is corrupt and firmly in the BushCo sphere of influence. If they have ANY problems handling religion, it is figuring out how to use it to serve BushCo.

11. Nice
I actually prefer grape cool-aid.

I think you are using "media-bias" the same way the Conservatives do - as a get out of jail free card - any time you are presented with a story you don't like, you simply deny it by virtue of this all powerful media conspiracy.

I am fully willing and able to debate this issue with you.

14. Ah - good call
Cause that response requires me to go back and look at every opinion to find one you've posted that I can argue against.

Never mind, if you feel like hte best answer is that everybody in the media is corrupt and in bush's pocket, more power to you.

15. No, I don't feel everyone in the media is corrupt.
I only think the corrupt ones are corrupt. There are some sane, rational, tellers of truth in the media and there are also many that are suspect or just do what they are told. The vast majority of American media is biased and acts in the interests of the corporations that own them. In this case, it seems obvious that the interests of the gargantuan media conglomerates is served by the BushCo regime in a "quid pro quo" exchange.

Your turn.

16. OK, that's not exactly what you said before
The Media has a corporate bias, I'll give you that. That's not the same as saying they are in the Bush's back pocket, or that the reason they suck on religion is that they are trying to figure out how to use religious reporting to support Bush.

That suggests conspiracy, which is not exactly the same as bias.

Along those same lines, when you say they "just do what they are told" who is doing the telling, in your opinon?

Bryant

4. Have you ever watched a church service
or a funeral covered by the MSM? They never stop talking. You could have the greatest singer in the world singing his heart out and they won't stop talking. They bring in folks from all over so they won't run out of anything to talk about. Because silence in TV land, is death.

3. No Mass
only silence and adoration for the Great Vigil, and the organ remains unplayed until the first Alleluia.

7. At my parish I think the Easter Vigil is the most visually beautiful

service we have.

8. I'm partial to Maundy Thursday
and the stripping of the altar. The priest washes the altar from top to bottom. We have a cross hanging in front of the alter and after the service they hang a black shroud over it with a great big hook. If we really get inspired we 'wash hands.'

I love that. Only Episcopalians would consider washing someone's HANDS equal to washing their FEET. So very personal, you know? Way too intimate!! But it's a nice service and the music is the best.

9. True, true

I live with and am marrying an Episcopalian on the 29th. Her church back in La is wonderful, great old building. The parish and the priest are very traditional so I have told all my friends to basically expect a "Catholic" wedding.
