was the guy in the picture that was touted all over the news.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad(L) Taqi Mohammadi(R)
A London-based Iranian news agency which opposes Mr Ahmadinejad is circulating the photograph, which it says was taken by the Associated Press news agency on the first day of the hostage crisis.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-1673938,00.html ...on the day Mr. Ahmadinejad's victory was declared, the perpetual enemies of the Islamic Republic, the Mojaheddin-Khalq (MEK) released a photo purporting to show the newly elected president with a blindfolded American hostage during the hostage crisis of 1979-81. The photo was immediately distributed around the world, and accusations that Mr. Ahmadinejad was a "hostage taker" flew fast and furious. Some of the former hostages, still bitter because they had been prevented from suing Iran for their long captivity, thought they remembered him from their experience 25 years ago.

Prior to the first round of the presidential elections on June 17, Iran Focus was the first news service to reveal Ahmadinejad’s role in the seizure of the U.S. embassy in Tehran...
http://www.iranfocus.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2677Iran Focus (www.iranfocus.com): The Mojahedin-e Khalq Organziation (a.k.a MKO, MEK, National Council of Resistance of Iran, NCRI, People's Mojahedin of Iran, PMOI, etc.) They are putting out a lot of the propaganda on Iran, and, interestingly enough, have strong ties to the neocons.
Some discussion here near bottom of thread about that.
