7. I wish that Guy wasn't up against Randi Rhodes, Ben...

...He hung in there and fought hard to get back on the air, and you did a lot to help him, but the DU support for his show now that he's returned is dismal. His daily thread gets a few hits initially and then tapers off after the first half hour or so. The only reason I don't call him more often is I don't want to overstay my welcome, but YES...there IS more to Progressive Radio than AAR.

And NO, I'm not "dissing" Randi, so to her fans, take a deep breath and LISTEN.

Once or twice a week, download the MP3 of Randi from White Rose Society and devote a couple of hours to listening to Guy James LIVE.

He deserves OUR support. For a group that likes to rally around important causes, we certainly haven't done so for Guy.

16. Here's a suggestion...

Maybe when he does his daily thread on DU, he could add a small paragraph that says something like "While you're waiting for today's show, download the MP3 of our previous show from The White Rose Society. Among the topics we discussed were A, B, C, D..."

He had a KILLER segment near the end of today's show on the economy and shows like Kudlow & Cramer that give Bush admin thugs like John Snow an open forum to discuss how Bush's tax cuts have created job growth, etc...

PLUS, Guy TAKES CALLS. That's right...you don;t sit on hold for an hour while you wait for the host, and when you GET him, he lets you talk about what's on your mind...not just a couple of sentences in between his monologue.

I continue to kick Guy's threads when I see them, as well as post threads of my own. I really so see this as a case of "people do not know what they are missing."

ps... the site would be more readable with a white background ... the slate background gives me a dingy, gloomy impression... let function be the guide, not art please. So many sites are disfunctional because an artsy staffer has control and he has no value for the function of the site, only art efforts. Then, the art sabotages the number of site revisits downward. Sad. DU is a fine example of hi functionality. Big type also is a great thing, dont fall for tiny type. Fast dnlds are also essential. Toss slow art image dnloads.

i have mixed feelings if you go on airwaves.. dividing the ad revenue pie between two networks will make it hard for either to survive, possibly. But OTOH, i love to see more folks valuing the idea of LW radio. Thanks for making the effort to build it.

22. Ben. Mike Webb has managed to get some local radio

stations (a couple in California and maybe New Haven I think) to pick up his stream and broadcast to their communities. I'm guessing he gets paid somehow, but it might be done only to extend his listener base. You might want to contact him and see if he wants to share some of the how-to's of making this happen.

He also has picked up an ad for a local car dealership. You would need national type ads, of course, but he might have some tips. And you might want to see if he would want his show archived at whiterosesociety.
