3. Thanks, Will. Let's see what these cowards against the 1st Amendment
can do.

I bet this will be a no winner for them.

6. Awesome!
I like what one veteran said about this being the first time he actually defended the constitution and that war is fought for Government. Great statement!

12. They were the same group in Mississippi
that was told by the police they weren't allowed to walk down the public streets. I was just writing to one of the organizers about that last night, how after urban legend of Vietnam vets getting spit at, it was striking to me that the only similar thing I've ever actually witnessed was our own vets being threatened with arrest for walking down a street, then for walking on a public sidewalk. And now they're being arrested for sitting in a ditch. Spitting in the face of veterans ... this is what it looks like, and it's not the left who's doing it.

17. It's no Urban Legend
I've been personally spit at in Uniform during the Vietnam Era since I was drafted then and joined the Air Force.. was also called a "baby killer"..

these things are true, it was not a good thing to be in uniform in the mid 70's in the public.

18. Thanks for the correction
For the last few years I've only heard people (including a lot of Vietnam veterans) say it didn't really happen - I guess it depended where you were.

19. No problem, while it may have not been systemic
it still DID happen.. the worse part was that I never wanted to sign up for a BS war in the first place, but once drafted your options are limited..

All I wanted to do in those days was to grow my hair, smoke pot, attend antiwar rallies, etc, like any normal kid at that age :)

There will always be a lot of BS floating around over every "war", many men feel bad that they were in the military and didn't GO to Nam, I didn't and didn't mind it either, my brother was there so they had a law where they had to keep one surviving son out of a war zone so as to not wipe out whole families that way.. the Sullivan Brother law, where in WW2 SEVEN brothers got killed on one ship so the family name had no way of being carried on..

Yeah, it happened alright sad but true.. in a way it should maybe happen again, might make people on both sides think about who's really in the MIX here, certainly not the RICH FAT WHITE GUYS, they get BONUSES,not spat on..

9. all because Bush doesn't want people peacefully protesting on his doorstep
Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 07:02 PM by TheBaldyMan
the protesters were photographed and had plastic binders placed on their wrists and will be processed as criminals (is trespass a criminal offence in the US?) at public expence.

This whole charade is so the President's motorcade can drive into his compound undisturbed by a dozen people holding anti-war placards. This strikes me as undemocratic in the extreme, how can Bush possibly justify these actions?

He's going to Camp David instead. This isn't even necessary.
