There are no insurgents in Iraq

The definition of insurgents is a group rising up against an established government. How can citizens of a country that fight a foreign government invasion be considered insurgents?

the answer given by toqueville, let me add that the insurgency is directed as much at the current Iraqi government as at the Occupation.

3. Freedom fighters was too long a phrase. Did have the right ring to it.

what crap. I suppose you could see those that target the military as freedom fighters, but people who blow up mosques and markets, kill indiscrimately and want to impose a narrow religious rule over the Iraqis, are not freedom fighters. There are far too many people here who are willing to excuse the actions of these people.

6. There are big questions as to who is actually the ones blowing up

mosques. Seems there are lots of reports of Iraq cab and truck drivers being pulled over and investigated for hours before they're allowed to go free. When they get a certain distance away, they search there trucks and find out the Americans have placed bombs in them. There then have been three reports that I've seen so far where the Brits have gotten caught dressed as Arabs with car bombs. And two so far of US soldiers dressed as Arabs with car bombs.

If peace comes to Iraq, we will be asked to leave and supposidly will have to. They will enjoy their own lives. I'm betting that is not *'s plan. The more chaos in Iraq, the more we get to stay there and fight and fill the coffers of the Halliburton and the rest of the military corporations.

Oh yeah, we still don't officially own the oil wells.

5. Seems simple to me..

The tactics used by these individuals are meant to instill terror on their own countrymen and/or fellow religious brethren, seems to me that makes them terrorists.
