It's time to start the Revolution! Here's how it works:
Yes, friends, it's time for a revolution in this country, and this Easter weekend, I'd like to get the ball rolling. It's amazing how many people I talk to have begun to use the language of revolution, or when asked about it simply agree without seeming conflicted. Everybody knows something drastic must happen, but nobody seems to know quite what to do.

In the spirit of Jesus the Rabble-Rouser, I have distilled the essence of what we need to do individually and collectively into this simple, revolutionary message:

STOP USING YOUR FUCKING CREDIT CARDS!!!

And there you have it! The revolution summed up in six simple words. One of them being a "bad" word, to help you remember the message. Oh, it's not really as simple as all that, but that will do for a catch-phrase. Want it on a bumper sticker? Do it like this:

Want a Revolution?
STOP USING YOUR FUCKING CREDIT CARDS!!!

It's not the credit cards themselves that are the problem, it's the interest you pay. That's how the rich create more wealth, money which goes straight to the top. Our system is based on constant growth, very little of which you actually see. (we see/ do the consumption part of the cycle) The wealth goes right to the top. It's based on usury.

Hmmm... wait a second now, I seem to remember something about usury being a sin and money-lenders in the temple and Jesus kicking them out and getting crucified for it, and things like that. OK, so do we put our money where our mouths are, or not?

There's actually a flip side to the notion of

STOP USING YOUR FUCKING CREDIT CARDS!!!

and it is this:

STOP BURNING FOSSIL FUELS!!!

I know, I know, how the hell are we going to do that? Stop borrowing money and paying interest and stop burning fossil fuels? It's craziness! I didn't say the Revolution was going to be EASY!!!

Fossil fuels are a gift to us. A gift from 4 billion years of evolution. A versatile gift that when converted to plastic, for example, there is still something there! Something that can later be recycled into something else. When you burn the stuff, it is gone forever! Well... not quite... it has been converted into money... money that goes right to the top!!!

Hey, I've got no problem with people being rich. Wealth, in and of itself is not a problem. It's what people do with that wealth. Right now, we are in a phase in our history where some of the wealthiest people on the planet are in a process of using their wealth to try to eliminate many or most of the rest of us. Yes, you read that right. If you follow their actions, rather than their (lying) words, it becomes pretty clear that the wealthy are try to force a die-off of the poor. And I don't like it!

Frankly, it won't really affect me. I'm pretty safe. I'm a member of the technocracy. I'm one of the janitors who keeps the technological infrastructure running. They need me. They may not need you, however. So come on, let's do the things that we can do, rather than simply waiting for someone to do it for us. There will be no election or impeachment or law that will accomplish what needs to happen to get the greedy lying killers out of power. They will always come back to haunt us. The only permanent way to get rid of them is to starve them. To stop giving them the means to turn their guns against others. And we must do it loudly. So yell it from the rooftops:

STOP USING YOUR FUCKING CREDIT CARDS!!!

and

STOP BURNING FOSSIL FUELS!!!

Good luck and Happy Easter!

19. Did you know that the First Day of the Battle of the Somme
almost as many British Soldiers died (19000+) as during the entire Reign of Terror (18000 to 40000 depending on your source)?

21. You can laugh
but your statement is incorrect. Most of the world's credit card use is in fact in the US. You didn't counter that, so I guess you can't.

3. Better Idea
Just pay them off entirely each month and reap other benefits. My monthly credit card bill is usually several thousand $$$, so the bank isn't making any thing from me. Besides, I get one cent back on every dollar charged.

6. They are laughing all the way to the (their) bank.
Don't be ridiculous, banks love credit cards. They make money 3% - 4% everytime you make a purchase even if you pay off your balance every month. Why do you think you get so many CC offers in the mail every day and many of them at 0% interest. Think about it.

5. Can I still use my debit card?
Edited on Sat Apr-15-06 09:09 AM by Poppyseedman
Seriously, revolutions are started and fueled primarily for economic reasons not political reasons.

This country will be ripe for revolution when the economy crashes.

Asking people to stop burning fossil fuels is akin to asking them to stop breathing or eating

Good luck, I need to top off both my cars fuel tanks today before the price goes up again and will use my debit card because having enough cash on hand to top off two vehicles is a pain in the butt

7. I have a better idea.
STOP buying ANTHING but the absolute essentials!

No restaurants, no new clothes except for your childres who've outgrown the ones they have, no partying at the sports bar or club, no attending sporting events, no concerts, no movies, etc!

Would it be DIFFICULT? HELL YES! But revolution is always difficult!

Imagine what the results would be if even 75% of the us population did that for 30 days!

14. I'm already with you on this one. No unnecessary driving either. We're
getting ready to convert our heating system so that we won't be using natural gas anymore. Last year was the first year in a decade that we took a week long vacation and we're not even thinking about it this year. I've been doing this for much longer than 30 days.

15. I heard about this on a TV interview. Some lady spent NO money
except for food, for a year as research for a book. She said initially it was really hard, and she did fall off the wagon twice, but as time went on, it became easier and easier. After several months, most of the temtation was gone.

I have no idea how we could ever promote something like this nationally, but it sure would get noticed!!!!

8. It doesn't work that way, but it's great advice
Credit cards are a scam designed to lure you into debt and keep you there. Everybody with a crushing credit card debt started out by paying those things off every month, so don't think you're immune.

I saw what they were up to in 1991 when they started charging junk fees and insisting on minimum monthly payments. That's how long it's been since I've had a credit card, the suckers got chopped up and sent in with a cancellation not they're probably still talking about.

We all know the longer this bunch of bunglers stay in office, the worse the economy is going to get for most of us. Pay those suckers off and get rid of them.

You don't need to be in debt right now, especially debt with a potential interest rate of 39%.

20. I don't use credit cards and I don't drive.
I live in a city and walk everywhere, except for longer distances and then I take the subway. I don't have any credit cards and I don't want any, but it's amazing how I see people who are making less money than I am supporting a lifestyle that far surpasses mine.

I sometimes feel impoverished, even though I make a decent salary, simply because I live only on what I make.
