'South Park,' Censored Over Mohammed, Hits Jesus

The creators of “South Park,” censored by Comedy Central when they attempted to show an image of the prophet Muhammed, aired instead an image of Jesus Christ defecating on President Bush and the American flag.
---

Banned by Comedy Central from showing an image of the Islamic prophet Mohammed, the creators of “South Park” skewered their own network for hypocrisy in the cartoon’s most recent episode.

The comedy—in an episode aired during Holy Week for Christians—instead featured an image of Jesus Christ defecating on President Bush and the American flag.

In an elaborately constructed two-part episode of their Peabody Award-winning cartoon, “South Park” creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker intended to comment on the controversy created by a Danish newspaper’s publishing of caricatures of Mohammed. Muslims consider any physical representation of their prophet to be blasphemous.

Finally, an answer to the question “what would Jesus do?”

the criminal bushmilhousegang has stained the american flag. I won't touch our flag or fly, or show it until they are in prison and our country clensed. I don't want any one in the world to think I am attached in any way to the bushmilhousegang american flag.

(besides, and as an aside - flags are a male thing. like neckties.)

1. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are the real hyppocrites.
Their "criticisms" of other tv shows and the people who watch them are totally dishonest. So far this season has reeked of nothing more than mean-spiritedness.

I've got no time for liars like these so I'm not watching the show anymore.

4. Yeah, Comedy Central totally bitched out on this.
The episode was funny anyway but they should have been allowed to show it. They are caving a lot lately on CC, first to moron Tom Cruise and the Scientology nutcases and now encoring a harmless cartoon of Mohammed. It's disgusting.

5. So It's Not Okay With CC To Show Mohammed Cartoons
but it's okay to show Jesus defacating on the American flag and Bush?

I guess that shows where CC's loyalty lies.

Stone and what's his name are total asshat hypocrites

fuck them!

and fuck CC

8. That was the point "Stone and what's his name" tried to make.
CC was sensitive to the feelings of Scientologists and the feelings of Muslims, but let South Park crap all over Bush, flag and Jesus (for, verily, Jesus got crapped on, too).

6. Remember Morgan Spurlock's 30 DAYS series on FX?
His episode on Islam featured a brief appearance by Mohammed in cartoon form. And nobody complained.

It was a fairly simple caricature, but respectful as well. It showed him perusing an old Qu'ran. That's it.

I think Comedy Central just totally wimped out, so Matt and Trey retaliated. They rock.

7. A little context, guys.
The comedy—in an episode aired during Holy Week for Christians—instead featured an image of Jesus Christ defecating on President Bush and the American flag.

The "feature" was the non-depiction of Muhammed, which was anti-climactic within the story, and which the TV audience, of course, never saw. The entire defecation scene was the Muslim response to the fictional Family Guy portrayal of Muhammed. It was an escalating "poop-fest", played out on a crudely-done Muslim video. Jesus came in at the end and out-pooped them all, but it was more of a cameo than a featured role.
