In Florida, Nelson Crushes Harris in Latest Poll
Rep. Katherine Harris (R-FL) continues to struggle in her bid to unseat Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL), according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll.

Nelson currently leads Harris by an astonishing 30 points, 57% to 27%. These numbers have Nelson “counting down the days until May 12,” the Florida filing deadline which would ensure a Nelson-Harris match-up should no other candidates enter the race.

1. Wait. On May 11th the criminal governor brother (that the taxpayers have
had to bail out to the tune of millions) of the criminal chickenshit CIC (that the taxpayers have had to bail out to the tune of millions)will throw his hat in the ring.

4. I will have to check but I believe it against Florida Law
for him to do that.

Run for another office while in office as Governor.

16. Worded very badly. The repubs want this seat. They really want it. So,
rather than having a lame candidate like Harris, they'll fight for it. This election could be a turning point for the republican party (as in the loss of the majority) and what family name says 'repuke' more that Bush? So, they'll fight for each and every election, and they'll fight hard.

Kathy hasn't got a snowball's chance in Hell. They might as well just not hold the election the way things stand now. So, rather than just hand it to the democrats (which is really what I meant to say), they'll try to take it by having Jobba, I mean Jebbie, run.

25. If Jeb Bush did resign to run,
which he won't so it's a bit of a moot point.

He would win hands down. I live here. He is well liked in his home state. Nelson would have his hands full.

2. The strongest candidate for a GOP run at that seat would be Connie
Mack.

But he is -- very much to his credit -- not interested in politics at this point and is spending his considerable personal talents and clout on fighting cancer generally and at the Moffitt Center in Tampa particularly.

I spoke with him there two weeks ago. I told him his party could use him in Washington. He smiled without any trace of judgment and said that "My work is here. These people need me more."

Slobberin' Jeb is unqualified by training and especially by temperament to be a U.S. Senator and I just don't believe he wants the job.

Unless the GOP gets nasty and shoves Harris into the Everglades and props up the race with an 11-th hour substitute, or even if they do, this seat stays blue.

5. Explain to me how Jeb can get onto the Ballot
at this late stage. Is there not a closed filing period in Florida? There is in Ohio.....

There's a reason why the state is shaped like a limp dick.

10. That explains it all.....
So, Jeb has a limp dick........He qualifies...especially since Harris could not make the man things "erect". I got it now.

14. Cut off for qualifying isn't until the middle of May
between now and then the Repugs are going to have to pull something out of their asses.

I'd love to see them put Jeb up. Nelson hasn't even lifted a finger and Katherine has managed to destroy herself.

Jeb vs Nelson would be a lot more fun. Jeb's closets are full of ghosts and if he runs it will be time to bring them out. Snort, snort.

17. Mid-May huh???????????
Maybe it would be good for us to show low Poll ratings for a *bush in Florida....We will win no matter who the repugs run... I feel a change in the air.

8. Yes. Slobberin' Jeb remains popular in Florida. But he is not the
teamwork/legislation type. He likes to govern from an executive's chair and pepper his press conferences with Spanish and so forth.

I think he'd outpoll Nelson but I don't think he wants the job.

12. If 57% have already decided to vote for Nelson,
i.e., that they are comfortable with that choice, it will be hard for any jebbie-come-lately GOPer to get their votes. Sounds like there are 16% still undecided, or perhaps planning not to vote at all, given the current choice.

13. If I'm reading this right, Jeb would have to resign to run.
Resign-to-Run
No officer may qualify as a candidate for another public office (whether state, district, county, or
municipal) if the terms or any part thereof run concurrently with each other, without resigning from
the office he or she presently holds. The resignation is irrevocable.
The written resignation must be submitted at least ten days prior to the first day of qualifying for
the office. The resignation must be effective no later than the earlier of the following dates:
1. The date the officer would take office, if elected; or
2. The date the officer’s successor is required to take office.

That link is to the Fl. elections handbook. It's written rather weird, but it looks like the last day Jeb could file to run is May 12th.

15. If you ever happen to run across a law...
anywhere, state or federal, that actually applies to anyone in the Bush family, let me know. If Jeb wants to run for the Senate, Jeb WILL RUN for the Senate. I believe the saying is, "You can take that to the bank."

18. Charlie Christ is running
for governor and he's still the State Attorney General.

That law is just saying you can hold two offices at the same time. For example, you can't run for Governor and Senator in the same year because their terms would overlap.

However if you are up for re-election and decide to run for a different office, that's okay.

which is when he'll be out of office anyway.

I don't think he will, but it sounds like he could.

running against Nelson. This same reporter also once dated Kathrine Harris' father; she said that the whole family is despicable.

24. There's only one poll that really counts
I expect Harris to win by a solid 10% after the electoral system she personally fucked has its way with the voters.
