If US Senators are going to refuse to take our calls

Alaska's Republican hotshots held a fundraiser here a couple of nights ago for Mike McGavick who is running against Maria Cantwell. It really makes me kind of sick. Uncle Ted has taken Sen. Cantwell's opposition to ANWR drilling much too personally.

5. Congresspeople need to stop relying

on "polls" and actually have human contact with their constituents and those from other states. Don't hold your breath. I think all congresspeople should be forced to have regular Town Halls with their constituents. We live in the age of podcasts --- they wouldn't even have to get their butts out of Washington, D.C. Your idea is excellent. The "disconnect" & distance between our representatives and "we the people" is totally symptomatic of how broken and dysfunctional our system has become. I didn't even get a generic acknowledgement of receipt of an email I sent to my OWN Senator, (Mrs. Clinton by the way!) let alone a response/answer.

They represent the people in their state, but they work for all of us -- isn't that the case?

then they shouldn't be able to pass laws/policies that affect people outside of their state.

If a Congress critter can make a law that affects me, then said critter is my representative, regardless of what state they or I live in...and they can damn well listen to what I have to say

Does Congress make laws that apply to everyone? The they can damn well take calls from everyone.
